08:51 AM ET 10.01 | Barring a sweep in this series, the Yankees will now need a fourth starter for the ALDS. It appears that will be A.J. Burnett. Manager Joe Girardi would not say who's starting beyond Ivan Nova in today's Game 1 resumption and Freddy Garcia in tomorrow's Game 2. But when asked whether his fourth starter candidates would be equipped to handle the new development of now starting a game in this series, Girardi hinted Burnett would be the most likely choice.

Hoping AJ will have his best stuff if that happens. He needs to realize Girardi has a short hook ready to yank him if he pitches like do-do.

If he starts that means the Yankees are up in the series or at least tied. It is all day to day with the starters from last night.

A 5.67 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP career line in the playoffs does not bode well at all, both of which get worse career-wise against the Tigers. On the bright side, Brad Penny's playoff 6.26 ERA (which takes a nice upward career mark climb agains the Yankees) and 1.82 WHIP - bodes even worse. So you might want to hold off on the zip and stroke routine for a couple of days.

Try some golf, you'll probably end up with some autographs from your favorite players.

Part of me hopes he does start, that means the Yankees are in a good place or it will not happen.

That would be the only way it would work for the Yanks.

Never mind, just leave him off the roster like last year.

He usually looks good for around 4 or 5 innings, then he explodes. They should have somebody warming in the pen the whole game, ready for a quick hook.

Please explain to me how he can start game 4 with the series tied.

I'll wait.

These two teams have the best aces, but after that its a bunch of negative dueces.

Burnett is going to start! Thanks for the heads-up, T&R. I'm going to save up all my money and put it on the Tigers for Game 4
