Why Francona might not fit White Sox needs

09:59 AM ET 10.01 | That Terry Francona is on the radar of the White Sox makes sense, not only because the Sox return a core group of veteran players that would like need a manager that they can respect, but also because Francona is a laid-back fixture -- basically the anti-Ozzie. What raises the red flag would be Francona's price tag. Jerry Reinsdorf managers the last 15 years or so have been first-year guys, which means they come on the cheap. Francona was a $4-million a year skipper, due $4.25 million next season if the Red Sox brought him back, and then $4.5 million in 2013. The White Sox paid Guillen $2 million this past season, and that was after he ended an 88-year World Series drought in 2005 and brought the Sox back to the playoffs in 2008. But loyalty hasn't always had a price tag with The Chairman. The other concern is the what-have-you-done-for-me-lately factor, with Francona coming off back-to-back underachieving years, including a 2011 season in which he was a part of an historical meltdown to fall short of the playoffs. The knock on the '11 White Sox was underachieving, so it wouldn't seem like the best fit.

I suppose Francona's throwing his team and ownership under a bus on the way out isn't going to curry him a lot of favor with prospective employers.

I agree with that asessment but i see it this way, this guy has won 2 championships, not just one, and thats why he gets paid the way he does, I think they need a change like him around, but id also see if the cubs were interested as well, we have some talent that could use some sprucing, and if we give him maybe lets say, 3 years and 3.5 a piece on average, see where it goes from there...
it wouldnt be a good idea not just for the sox but especially francona...Buerhle isnt coming back im sure, Konerko is getting older, Dunn cant hit worth his life, and Quentin has constant injury issues...do i need ot talk about the rest of the team that cant hit, play defense or keep their demeanor?

Terry looks like he needs some time away from the dugout. He's also had some health issues in the last couple of years.
Best guess is that he will stay away for a year, perhaps do some time with ESPN etc. and get himself together.

The last person in the world who can EVER be accused of throwing ANYONE under a bus is Terry Francona. Whether he would be a good fit for your club is one question, but you would never find anyone of a higher character.
It's Terry who has tread marks on his back, four separate sets.

Meanwhile, The Bosox captain and Petey were last seen spooning one another and sucking there thumbs in a corner while Paps sat nearby in front of a picture of Craig Nettles busting the Spaceman alternately howling at the moon and screaming "Please make it stop".

I believe the team has an option for 2012, that they must exercise within a couple of weeks.
