08:02 AM ET 10.03 | Only three of the dozen intended passes for Santonio Holmes reached their target. He hauled them in for gains totaling 33 yards, the longest going for 22. One pass intended for him was thrown into the flat as he swung out wide, but defensive back Lardarius Webb stepped in front and returned it 73 yards for a touchdown. "Too late," Holmes said. "Can't throw it out too late." ... Holmes identified layers to the unit's issues, starting up front and continuing into the pocket. "It starts up front with our big guys, they need to do a better job protecting Mark (Sanchez) and Mark has to do a better job making his reads and getting the ball to playmakers," Holmes said.

Can't be much worse than garbage right now!!!

JETS S_C_!

October 3, 2011  08:06 AM ET

They let the right QB get knocked out in preseason... McElroy.

He can do WAY better than "Sanchize".

October 3, 2011  08:09 AM ET

Hate to break this to you Holmes... He can't.

October 3, 2011  08:11 AM ET

Sounds like Holmes thinks he's the only Jet not stinking things up.

October 3, 2011  08:13 AM ET

Should be interesting next week as they visit Foxboro. Oooohhhhh!!!

October 3, 2011  08:14 AM ET

In other words, "Rex Ryan says 'Jets Suck.'"

October 3, 2011  08:18 AM ET

as I've been saying: this is Sanchez's last season as a starting QB in the NFL....Jets are just confirming that he isn't the future so they know how badly they need to draft a QB...they'd be starting Brunell if he wasn't too old to be the future of the team and it's too late for him to save this season anyway....it's all about next year at this point and next year won't be Sanchez....

For a person with over 29,000 comments, you sure in the hell don't know much about pro football!!!

fear the raven.

October 3, 2011  08:22 AM ET

Lets see Pats/Jets next Sunday. Yeah I might watch that.

I didn't know that the GM of the Jets has an FN account!!!! :-)

AT the next practice, Sanchez has to grab Holmes by the face mask and show him who the effing QB of this team is. Winners don't throw teammates under the bus in the press.

I'm going to ask that same question in about 6 weeks!!!

October 3, 2011  08:25 AM ET

Ooooh, it's Diva Time! Wideouts ripping the rest of the offense.

Usually, I love it when a plan comes together. In the Jets case, though, I live it when a plan falls apart.

October 3, 2011  08:26 AM ET

Sanchez looked shell-shocked yesterday. Anybody know a good shrink specializing in PTSD? He'll need it.

Clearly the team just isn't sold on Sanchez. He stinks, no other way to look at it.
