08:09 AM ET 10.03 | How many changes are in the offing this offseason in Boston? In the midst of discussing [Terry Francona] departure from the Red Sox [team stats] managerial post, team chairman Tom Werner and president Larry Lucchino were asked Friday night about Epstein's future, particularly with respect to late-season rumors that the general manager may be eyeing a position with the Chicago Cubs. At best, their answers were noncommittal. ... Epstein, who has one year remaining on his contract, doesn't sound like he's planning to sneak out of Fenway Park in another gorilla suit. Not yet, at least.

With the year remaining on the contract, it's in John Henry's court whether to keep him or release him from the deal.

if they intend on having theo around past next season they should get a new contract done now so a new manager will have a better sense of whats going on with the club...

I think ARod's knee is still bothering him, but he'll still play because it's the playoffs. If the knee is that bad, he should cheer the team on from the bench and let someone who can contribute play.
