08:27 AM ET 10.03 | Teens aren't generally able to crack the lineup in Philly, which may change in 2011-12. Through the years, you can count on one hand the number of Flyers who have made the roster as 18-year-olds. That's what makes the almost certain appearance of Sean Couturier on this year's opening-night lineup so special. At this age, it's more about the mental side of the game than the physical skills. A kid like Couturier, who probably has friends still playing hockey in high school, has to be savvy enough to avoid mistakes and have the maturity traits of someone in his early 20s. "He's played well, he might be one of our smarter defensive players," said general manager Paul Holmgren. "At the end of the day, we'll do what's right for the organization and for Sean."
