Canucks are Canada's best shot ... by default

08:27 AM ET 10.04 | The Vancouver Canucks, relatively speaking, are on the rise. Last year, this was the Canadian-based NHL squad with the best chance at bringing the Stanley Cup home. This year? The Canucks are the only team from this side of the border with an actual opportunity to capture the NHL championship. That's an upgrade in national reality, if not necessarily roster strength. ... So while the Canucks stand head and shoulders above the other Canadian teams -- the Oilers, Flames, Jets, Leafs and Sens are just hoping to make the playoffs, the Habs seem destined to be good but far from great -- that shouldn't be taken to mean they're a better team than they were.

Poignant analysis by a paper that covers the Leafs on a regular basis. And any team with Robooby in nets doesn't have a chance to win the Cup so I guess the Star has decided the Chalice stays in the US in 2012.

Makes me laugh when people get all worked up over the fact a Canadian team hasn't won the Cup since '93...

I look forward to Hank's comments with great anticipation.

Seems to me that the whole article was a set up to take a shot at the Canadiens, looking at the final sentence.

Fingers crossed the Cannots start slow with the Loubot letting easy ones in-Players divide the locker room due to Goaltender "who should be the starter"controversy and the Cannots slip out of contention. To quote the amazing Beatles ;-) "Let it Be"

Who with the Flames organization quoted this song "I am the Walrus?"
