Tortorella never gave Avery a chance

[Avery] never had a chance, never was given a chance to make this year's Rangers, so what in the world was the organization doing dragging him around Europe for a week before delivering the news on the flight here yesterday from Switzerland that his run on Broadway had come to an end? "That's not for me to say," coach John Tortorella said at the team hotel last night in explaining the decision to place the 31-year-old winger on waivers he surely will clear at noon [Wednesday]. "I don't want to play GM here." Fair enough, but it was surely on Tortorella's say that Avery never got a sniff throughout a camp during which he skated with minor leaguers.

Tortorella is a bloodsucking loser who got lucky one year with a good team led by a little guy who literally fell from the sky and became one of the game's greats, and a crap call in game 6. He's got the worst attitude of any coach/manager in sports, and this is how he treats players who've served the team for many years: By dragging him overseas THEN telling him to pack his bags. I hope the Rangers are in dead last by December and this loser is begging TSN for his spot on the Quiz back.

Keep in mind this is Larry Brooks, who has something for Avery. He also got first hand info directly from Avery, so his one valuable source to the team just left. If you read the article, it is kind of funny, it sounds like a mom complaining her son doesn't get into the little league game. Porry Larry, he will miss is Avery when he is in Europe.

And indeed I don't defend Avery at all. I don't make him out to be the venomous sponge everyone else seems to, but I'm definitely not a fan.

I don't think they will let him go there...just my opinion is they will loan him to another team. He might sniff the NHL again, but it won't be this year.
