Trojans weigh NFL draft options

The siren song of the NFL might not lure any of USC's draft-eligible juniors into declaring for the 2008 draft after the Rose Bowl, but most are expected to ask the league for evaluations that project the round in which they might be chosen. Linebackers Rey Maualuga and Brian Cushing, offensive lineman Chilo Rachal, defensive lineman Fili Moala, receiver Patrick Turner, cornerback Cary Harris and safety Kevin Ellison are among the players eligible for the 2008 draft. Ellison has said that he would return for his senior year but acknowledged that he completed paperwork for an NFL evaluation.

They should leave now before the NCAA finally drops the hammer on that program.

Most if not all will be back. And the mere fact that we're talking about the future of several juniors from SC, tells the tale of how a USC bias truly exists. Like the east coast bias, the Trojan bias will shoot them in the top 3 on next years preseason polls. Go Trojans!

To lose Cushing and Maualuga would be devastating. I don't see Cushing doing it though. Rey? I'm not as sure.

The Trojans still have Kaluka Maiiava, Malcolm Smith, Luther Brown, and Chris Gallipo, so the linebacking corp is still awesome.

Hold on. Are you telling me USC is not a pro team? I had them over the Lions by 14!!! I thought that bookie was shady....

Irish CPS do you have some inside info. Comon spill the beans. Id be more worried about Notre Dames problem concerning their heavy set blow heart coach, who is getting paid big money for demeaning the school and its football program.

Geeze - this is a non story for every program.

Why woudn't they file the paperwork and get a free evaluation from a pro scout?

The down side is that there will be so many evaluations of players the evaluations will be useless past those underclassmen 1st round prospects.
