08:15 AM ET 10.06 | All it took was a simple decline of a job. The shakeup began with a "no thank you" from Chip Hale. According to team sources, when the third base coach declined an offer to stay, Mets brass thought: If he is leaving, why not re-evaluate the entire staff? That ultimately led to comprehensive changes, which the team did not initially expect to make. The Mets announced on Wednesday that three other coaches -- Mookie Wilson (first base), Jon Debus (bullpen) and Ken Oberkfell (bench) -- would not return to the major league staff. Pitching coach Dan Warthen will return, and hitting coach Dave Hudgens will be back for the second season of a two-year deal. Triple-A Buffalo pitching coach Ricky Bones will be the Mets new bullpen coach.

I don't see this resolving their issues. But it may be a good first step.

perhaps we should flip this on it's head. chip hale declining to keep a big league job? kind of suggests that those on the inside know that things are headed further south in queens.
