08:09 AM ET 10.07 | Credit Claudio Sabatini for his willingness to keep on swinging. The last idea of [Sabatini] is to have Kobe Bryant for a single, exhibition game, as reported by Bolognabasket.it. The game would be played next Wednesday against Benetton Treviso who already accepted the proposal. Playing a friendly, Sabatini won't have problems to get the letter of clearance, to deposit Kobe's contract to Legabasket on time for the game. If Kobe agrees, Sabatini has just few days to sell the tickets, organize the event and the merchandising related to Kobe. It is not clear if the offer for the player, in case of single game, is still $2M.

Won't happen! That's not enough to take a chance of losing $30 mil.

I don't undetstand how paying him 2 mil, for one game can possibly make this sabatini character any $I mean these pipsqueak arenas can hold what 10,000?So he'd have to charge like 200$ a ticket?or charge like #100$ a ticket and like 45$ for a hot dog?

if the game is going to be broadcasted on TV, with all the advertisements nowadays, he can get the 2 Mil back easily even if it is only for one game

Obviously they won't recoup the 2 million from advertisements/tickets from one game alone. I think it's more about building a brand, as in have you heard of Virtus Bologna before these Kobe to Italy rumors? I think Sabitini knows Kobe will never play for Virtus Bologna, but he getting a ton of free press by proposing ridiculous offers, if the lockout is prolonged, like many think it will, players in the lower tiers,(Henrich, Keith Boguns, Farmar) will be much more likely to sign with Virtus Bologna as opposed to anyother Eurobasket team, they'll have the "if it's good enough for Kobe, it's probably good enough for me attitude"
