Those of us close to the Temple football program were dealt a tremendous blow last week with the news of Al Golden's eagerness to find another job just two years into his tenure at Temple. Whether he gets the job at UCLA or not, the damage is already done. What do you tell the alumni, who have worked so hard to keep football at Temple and finally saw a light at the end of the tunnel? Do you tell them, don't worry, maintain your enthusiasm and keep volunteering your time and, oh, don't forget to send your money? -- Dave "Fizzy" Weinraub, Temple football 1959-61

Ya' expect the guy to stay there for life? Come on, he's allowed to look isn't he? He hasn't gone Petrino on Temple.

Petrino... that, along with Sherman, is a name that is whispered in Atlanta!

When Temple antes up the money necessary to revive the program and updates it facilities to national standards/expectations, then it will attract a good coach and build a good program.

Until then, it will continue in its role as toilet paper for any team that plays it.

heh heh...role....toilet paper..heh heh!

Someday, an astute athletic director will turn down a request when the "big boys" try to raid a school with a smaller budget, thereby making "no permission" to speak to said coach routine, rather than an accepted, practice. Schools like Temple and Central Michigan have nothing to gain and plenty to lose by allowing their coach to speak to other schools while under contract.
