Asked about Greg Oden's rehab, Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard wanted to make things clear. "He's so far ahead of what we expected it's not even funny," Pritchard said by phone Thursday. "Having said that, he will not. Come. Back. This. Year."

don't be stupid pritchard, you said on sc that he was your franchise player. don't bowie him anymore

December 23, 2007  10:25 AM ET

Herman Munster 9 who was careful to hide his injury from NBA scouts) can take the next 3 years off.....who cares? He'll never be a real factor in the NBA because he is a slow stiff....

December 23, 2007  10:30 AM ET

Actually I can't wait until he's healthy so Portland can see the mistake they made. They're waiting on Bill Russell and I think they're going to get Bill Wennington. Where's Odenator when we need him?

December 23, 2007  10:41 AM ET

greg oden is don' t get me wrong, an exceptional player, but his lack of athleticism and his low stamina make him very vulnerable to 1) foul trouble and 2) getting winded in only a few minutes so he will never be that great of a player.

December 23, 2007  12:37 PM ET

I agree that he'll be in foul trouble and get winded soon, but he and Joel Przybilla will be a perfect pair for one another. Maybe together they can finish a whole game.

December 23, 2007  01:02 PM ET

Bring him back next year when he turns 34.

December 23, 2007  01:46 PM ET

Portland, don't rush him back, you guys are on a roll. 10 wins in a row, tied for seventh in the west. Let him heal! You don't need him right now, all you needed was to get rid of the cancer (Randolf, Francis) and blood flows healthy.

December 23, 2007  03:06 PM ET

I have to agree with the above comments. You can't depend on an injury prone rookie to be the savior of your franchise. He's no Lebron... not even close. Portland is hot right now, so maybe it's just a matter of improving what you already have... now there's a novel concept.

December 23, 2007  03:30 PM ET

Lack of athleticism? That's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Oden is one of the most athletic big men in the history of the league. Did any of you watch him play last year? That being said, this is a non-issue. Oden is not coming back this year under any circumstances. Pritchard said as much himself.

December 23, 2007  03:59 PM ET

put him in there and see how he does if he is that far ahead...

December 23, 2007  05:04 PM ET

does this mean this year like "season" or like "year"?

December 23, 2007  05:06 PM ET

I'm glad they aren't rushing him back. All it would do is cause a worse injury. At least someone in management has enough sense to know that.

December 23, 2007  07:46 PM ET

Not if they are smart.

December 23, 2007  08:10 PM ET

HAHA,oh I love all the comments..
Humm' I would bet every hater here would sell their grandma to have him sitting on their bench next season.
Course you won't get them to admit it.

See ya next year...
You all have seen how good Portland is getting while they are waiting for Greg...have you noticed ??

bye haters..

December 23, 2007  08:13 PM ET

They would be stupid if they did. Sure, they are doing good this season, but he is their future.

December 23, 2007  10:06 PM ET

Okay, he was on PTI on Friday, and Kornheiser and Wilbon asked, "will he come back?"... Well actually, he guessed "your next ? will be if he will be ready before the end of this season", but that's beside the point. Anyway, HE SAID NO.

December 24, 2007  01:50 AM ET

To those who trash Oden I say-----SOUR GRAPES. I am not a Blazer fan but they are looking great right now. They will be scary good when Oden starts playing next year.

I am a Laker fan and the rest of the Pacific Division scares me! Hope the Lakers can keep up in the coming years.

December 24, 2007  03:28 AM ET

Fist off, I am a Blazer fan...second, Oden does look 34. That being said, none of you can even have a clue until he gets his feet wet in the league. So hold back criticism until he actually does something good or bad. The Blazers are playing possessed and we "fans" just need to enjoy the ride b/c the last roller coaster ride was bumpy at best.

December 24, 2007  04:11 AM ET

Hllywd...you missed me huh? I will root for OSU over LSU just to ruin your day.

If you are going to throw smacks, at least show some b'alls and identify which NBA team you are in alliance with, so you don't come accross as some chicken sh'its.
