Ragan among big names looking for rides

10:06 AM ET 10.08 | David Ragan, despite his Daytona victory in July, is still wondering just what he'll be doing in 2012. Team owner Jack Roush -- who just lost major sponsors Diageo/Crown Royal, Matt Kenseth's current sponsor, and UPS, Ragan's sponsor, and is still looking for major sponsorships to fill that void -- has told Regan he's cleared now to listen to offers from other teams. However the NASCAR market at the moment is filled with several drivers looking for rides -- Brian Vickers, for example -- and with hundreds of crewmen looking for jobs. And a visit to a dozen Sprint Cup haulers here Friday in the NASCAR garage was a downer pretty much all the way around, with too many trucks filled with disgruntled and fearful crewmen, wondering just what's coming next.

Looks like the luck of the draw, if the company that sponsors with a certain team cuts back, that's the name of that tune. I don't think it's a reflection on Roush, it's what's going on in the country.

This is another example of the economy not recovering like the govt. says it is. Let's face another fact - I don't think Ragan lived up to the expectations that Roush was thinking when Ragan moved up to Cup. Another example of that is David Gilliland. Remember when he won the N'wide race at Kentucky against all the Cup drivers that was in that race? They put Gilliland on the fast track to Cup. Now he's in a mediocre ride.
