09:53 AM ET 10.09 | The Heat wants to keep Mario Chalmers and can match any offer, but worries about another team driving up his price with an inflated bid. The Heat isn't enamored with free agents T.J. Ford, Delonte West or incumbent Mike Bibby; all would be among options only if the Heat can find nothing better.

Chalmers is alot better than most people think. I like the kid... his 3 range is much improved and he's a smart player.

Chalmers will stay in Miami and will continue to be burnt on defense. I don't understand how such a great college defensive player gets to the next level and forgets how to play defense. Either way, chalmers seems like a good kid and I wish him good luck.

He is a good fit for that team and will only get better. Chalmers gets caught flat footed at times on defense, but he makes up for it with his effort and ability to shoot from anywhere on the court.

I hope the Heat sign Delonte West. .Reunited and it feels so good! <- ala Peaches and Herb

That would be hilarious, but sadly it won't happen. The heat would never jeopardize their chemistry like that

I like Chalmers, was always irked when Bibby (and earlier Arroyol) were given the starting job ahead of Chalmers. He made great strides during the Finals and I feel this will be a big breakthrough year for him in terms of consistency.

On another note the NBA and its players are having a last ditch effort meeting tonight to try and end this lockout. All I gotta say is I believe in miracles and am really praying for this one to fall through. (But I'm not holding my breath :/)
