Heat trade rumors brewing

Now that coach Pat Riley has gone on the record to confirm he is aggressively pursuing trades to bolster the roster, there is no shortage of rumors involving the Heat. Two unattributed stories popped up Sunday. The Houston Chronicle reported that the Rockets would have some interest in trading for Heat guard Jason Williams, who has been inconsistent this season but has an attractive expiring contract. Another was mentioned in The (New York) Daily News, which claimed the Heat and Grizzlies are discussing a deal that would bring Mike Miller to Miami and send either Williams or Ricky Davis to Memphis.

both deals dont make sense. houston already has too many underachieving inconsistant pgs and miller is better than either williams or davis.

The only movement that would make sense is removing Riley the Magnificent, a poor excuse for an NBA coach. Yeah, thats it.

steve francis makes alot more sense hes only on 2.4 million, he aint getting any minutes in houston and hes a point guard who can shoot the ball. the heat wouldnt have to give up much at all - a real bargain lets see if the heat are smart or not

Trade an inconsistent point that can't shoot, or a ball hog who makes others worse; for a player how can shoot the three put up points and grab boards. Something doesnt seem fair.

I know it's the holidays and a lot of people are celebrating with "whatever," but you've obviously had too much. Steve Francis is the last thing the Heat need. If he had anything to bring to the table, he wouldn't be on the bench now.
Bringing back Davis was a good move, I think the Heat should keep him. But if they can get Mike Miller for White Chocolate, that's a smart move. Riley is trying to correct past mistakes. Mike Miller and Ron Artest would solve a lot of problems.

let me guess you a heat fan get real dude miami is a sinking ship and artest wouldnt go near the place
"heat get their man" (headline when heat signed smush) what a joke thats the only type of player you will get
you will just have to wait until bad contracts expire like blount and shaq before you can buy a free agent to help wade out

Those deals don't even sound right. Who in their right mind would give up Mike Miller for RICKY DAVIS?? Please put down the spiked egg nog and take a step back.

You finally got something right. I'm a Heat fan. I'm also objective. I said Riley was trying to correct past mistakes. With his record of problems, Artest would be glad to go anywhere he could become relative. Riley would keep his emotions in check and Artest would finally have the chance to win, which is what all the players want anyway.

Ricky Davis is a perennial loser why would any team touch him? Unless your getting rid of a overweight and carefree Antoine Walker I guess is the answer.

December 25, 2007  10:29 AM ET

I agree Hollywood keep Ricky Davis & trade J Will White Chocolate' for Mike Miller, Chris Quinn is the best Pg on the heat and Wade is a 2 guard , just bring Keyon Dooling or Brian Chase back with Marcus Slaughter and were back 2 championship contention.

Heat Starters: Quinn, Wade, Mike Miller, Haslem & Shaq.

Bench: Dooling/Chase, Cook, Davis, Slaughter, Dorell, Earl Barron, Blount, Luke Jackson, A Johnson & Joel Anthony.
