Lakers coach defends Isiah

Leave it to Phil Jackson to compare Isiah Thomas with President George Bush while defending Thomas before the Lakers beat the Knicks in New York on Sunday. "He's kind of in the same position Bush is in," Jackson said. "No matter what he does, if it's good, no one's going to give him a break. Everything he does or the team does that doesn't look good, he's going to get blamed for. Isiah's heart is in the right spot. He's trying to do the things to manufacture a good team. Things aren't clicking. It's easier to fire a coach than 15 players."

Oh boy, the Zen master maybe experienced success but when senile is the issue, look out Laker fans. Seems like he's praising Bush And Thomas, is he?

When you get compared to Bush, you know things are bad...

He's right, Isiah and Bush are a lot alike . Both are liars, both lack integrity, and they are both miserable failures.

Okay, comparing Isiah to Bush isn't going to help Isiah's case. Just a thought.

Hey; The Chicago Tribune reported the story. Don't shoot the messenger.

I can't believe my eyes is Phil Jackson actually said something intelligent and came to another coach's defense instead of throwing out another zinger.

I'm really impressed right now but I will miss his witty one liners. Like that one about the people of Sacramento being rednecks man that was classy.

Unlike President Bush, Isiah has a concrete way to show progress: W's.

They are not the same since we can easily quantify how bad (L's) Isiah's assembled mess is vs the state of the USA.

At least someone defended someone in the Knicks vs Lakers. Lakers were up by 30 at some point.

Is it me or is it like the Knicks just give up a monster lead to lull the other team into overconfidence, then they try real hard to make a comback only to realize they don't have the talent or time to actually pull it off?

Its like NBA rope a dope every night they play.

December 24, 2007  05:00 PM ET

notbychoice, no offense, but the people of Sacramento ARE rednecks. Show me one that isn't.

December 24, 2007  06:49 PM ET

This just in: The Knicks are still the laughing stock of the league and so is their coach.

December 24, 2007  11:10 PM ET

Both are liars - similarities
Isiah can be fired, but Bush can't be :-(

Does this mean that Bush has been sexually harrasing women like Isiah has?

Sacramento is a very classy city. Much better than, say, LA.

Wow. A homophobe defending a sexual harrasser... very compelling.
