A report in yesterday's Akron Beacon Journal said the Sixers and Cleveland have discussed a possible deal for Andre Miller. An NBA source confirmed yesterday that the teams had talked but said there was no movement toward a deal. Sixers general manager Ed Stefanski said last week he could not be certain that Miller or any player would not be traded.

If Cleveland would make a deal to address its PG requirements, why not go for gold in Kidd, why go for mediocrity?

December 24, 2007  08:43 AM ET

Good point but what are they going to give to NJ--- the rest of their team other than Lebron?

December 24, 2007  09:53 AM ET

They can't afford Kidd. Cleveland doesn't have anything the Nets would accept in trade and Kidds' contract makes a deal undoable. Miller should never have been traded in the first place, but he was another in a long list of stupid moves the Cavs have made. It will be interesting to see what the Cavs are proposing to make the deal. Maybe one of the other mistakes they just made (Varejao)

totally true with all of the mistakes that they've made-- however, just like the Knicks, what GM in the league could honestly look at either of those rosters (except for Lebron) and say that they'd take anything off of either roster unless it came for free?

andre miller has been part of trade rumors for how many years now ? another worthless story.

December 24, 2007  11:50 AM ET

steve francis is a better option especially at 2.4 million for this season even if he is a trouble maker

December 24, 2007  12:41 PM ET

Steve Francis?? CLE will not win another additional game with him libm legs and horrible attititude. Miller any day better than Steve, but even then, what were the Cavs doing during the summer??

December 24, 2007  01:20 PM ET

I doubt that adding Andre Miller to the Cavs will have a profound effect on the team. But if the Cavs decide to trade for him, I hope they aren't dumb and give more than Miller is worth (which ain't much).

December 24, 2007  01:20 PM ET

andre miller cant shoot properly and they only have bad contracts to get him - like snow or marshall so to even up the deal the cavs would have to let go newble, gibson and a 1st rounder thats the only way they get miller as they have already stated gooden wont be going anywhere

December 24, 2007  01:55 PM ET

Miller is a true point guard. This is arguably the most important position on a basketball team. Cleveland could have eliminated a lot of their past struggles if they had drafted maybe Jameer Nelson instead of Luke Jackson three years ago. They gave up Miller once for Darius Miles and they haven't been able to reach their full plotential since. Miller will without a doubt have a profound effect

Steve Francis has been a failure everywhere he's been. There is such a thing on a TEAM as chemistry. Francis has marginal skills, but he "doesn't play well with others." Have you ever heard of ANY team trying to acquire him. And don't tell me Isiah. He doesn't count.

I gotta tell ya, anyone who thinks that Stevie Francis is an upgrade over Andre Miller is friggin' crazy. Francis' best years are behind him. Miller is a year younger and playing consistently great ball.

December 25, 2007  11:43 AM ET

I would take Miller over Stevie Franchise-Killer. Seriously, every franchise he has joined has suffered in some capacity. Miller will provide passing ability, but that really isn't what Cleveland needs because they have excellent passers in LeBron and Hughes. They need a proven scorer at the guard position. Kidd and Miller really don't answer that problem.

December 25, 2007  11:48 AM ET

BOTH teams' seasons are down the tubes already and this "trade" won't make any difference to either one.

December 25, 2007  12:58 PM ET

Andre Miller can help the Cavs..He is not flashy, just a solid point guard that cand guard the bigger points out there and give you 8 assists a gam..with Lebron running the floor, I think that will translate into 10 assists a game..Not Jason Kidd or Steve Nash, but more than enough to help this team that needs a point in the worst way...Whoever suggested Steve Francis (This is like the bottom of the barrel) should be forced to watch all the Knicks games for the rest of the season and then be made Zach Randolph's personal trainer for the off-season...

December 25, 2007  03:49 PM ET

I've heard this deal floated around... I think its sounds good for all teams.

Cavs get Andre Miller... desperately need a solid PG, which he is... and can score.
Lakers get Drew Gooden.... need a big PF. It's the one position LA is missing.
Philly gets Kwame Brown and his 9M expiring contract (which is what they claim to really want, money for free agency) and a first round pix or maybe Crittenton. They are in it for the future, not right now.

Numbers match. Thoughts?

December 26, 2007  02:24 AM ET

why not make a move for Gary payton or penny hardaway??

December 26, 2007  04:02 PM ET

If Stefanski is going to make his mark on this team he has to free up the money to bring in the players this offseason. Andre Miller is a nice PG, but they may want to go younger with Lou Williams or sign a veteran FA....Miller's shooting is too erratic for me, especially from a PG....I would like to see them get a guy who can dish 8-10 assists a night and put 15-20 every night....

I'd trade Miller for a prospect or high pick....and let Lou Williams get his feet wet as a starting PG.

This would be a good deal for the Cavs who have lacked a true point guard. Gibson can shoot from the outside when he gets hot, but they don't have a solid guy that they can move the ball through. Miller will give greater opportunities to Gooden and James to make the points instead of forcing them to create their own shot. Also Miller imo is pretty solid on D and can bang around with Kidd and other type point guards... he'll struggle against parker and Harris though who are known for speed.

Give up Varejao who provides hustle and maybe a draft pick or cash.
