LaCava's switch to Tiger surprised many caddies

11:51 AM ET 10.09 | Caddie Joe LaCava's decision to leave Dustin Johnson for Tiger Woods surprised some caddies, who are like horsemen when it comes to picking their rides. They place great weight on recent performances, which makes sense since, in addition to a base salary for the week -- roughly $1,500, a large chunk of which goes toward travel and lodging expenses -- they also receive a percentage of their boss's earnings: 6 percent for a made cut, 8 percent for a top-10 finish and 10 percent for a victory.

Maybe he was hoping to earn some other earnings and bonuses from hanging around boss Eldrick...

LaCava went from Freddy to a dopehead to an adulterer. Not sure I understand the progression here.

$1500/wk is not a lot of cash if you only get it when your golfer is playing. Given Tiger's reduced playing schedule and train wreck of a game LeCava might be needing some food stamps before too long.

Actually it was a left-over Italian sausage from the last Buick Open (you know, the ones filled with detrus from Nicaragua). I didn't think anyone would recognize me. Good job Rex, you win the Christmas turkey.
My golfing buddy told me that during the last tournament that Frank Nobilo and Brandel Chambliss were ripping hard on the long putter and think it should be banned. Good for them. It should be banned. It's ugly and gives an unfair advantage to the older farts who should be content to sip coors and sit in front of the TV. They had their day in the sun. It's time for Tim Finchem to step up to the plate and ban that thing. Good grief, what am I thinking? Finchem become pro-active? Wake up Jon and smell the Hummus.

Stupidly, I bow hunted last week (opener was last Saturday). I should have known better. It was eighty degrees. Those deer aren't going to move around until it cools off. I've been hunting for 35 years and I still haven't learned. The hell with it. I'm flying down to Florida next week for some golf and visit my ailing mom. I'll pick it up at the end of the month. Two bags of beets and three gallons of corn wasted. And, corn is now $14 for a 90 pound bag. That's okay, I'll make it last until next year.

Hi GoHabs. Good to see you back here. Not much happening. Thank God hockey is back! Except for the spammers the golf threads that are interesting have been few and far between! Well, I'm an ORF (old retired ****) so I complain too much. So I'll shut up and go back to hockey. Talk to you soon.

I'm not a hunter Jon so I know squat about it. But I love to eat venison. Good luck with your golf and I hope your Mom is feeling better real soon. Then when it cools off you can shoot Bambi! :-)!

Yeah, the spammers own golf. Easy prey cuz there's not much news. There was a recent article about golf "post Tiger" and how the playing field is now level. It went on to say, "is everybody now great or mediocre and we just can't tell". Interesting point. Golf is now about somebody different winning every tourney and I think it's more boring really. Golf needs heroes like any other sport. Will Tiger win again? I simply don't know. He's only 35, but with some serious issues to contend with. Unfortunate, I used to like watching his shot making ability.

I used to hunt years ago but with a rifle not a bow. My cousin was a confirmed bow hunter and bagged deer every season. I really respect that style of hunting. Nothing like a great roast venison too!!!! Have a great season Jon!
