Dolphins benefit from Tebow effect

08:00 AM ET 10.12 | At least some fans will attend Sunday's Broncos-Dolphins game purely for Tim Tebow. A matchup of two bad teams grew some fun with Tuesday's announcement Tebow will start for Denver against the Dolphins on Oct. 23. It's locally compelling. It's nationally intriguing. It also will measure just how much one man can matter at the ticket gate. On Tuesday, more than 2,000 tickets sold for the game on the secondary market through sites like Stubhub.com, according to a source. That equaled the previous six weeks of sales for the game. ... As it is, Tebow will get cheered like no visiting opponent ever at a Dolphins game. Good for him. But there's another way to measure his impact. Can he turn into the Dolphins' $5 million golden goose?

Maybe the Dolphin fans will kidnap Orton and have him suit up for the second half.

I really think this is what the Broncos need. Heck, he can't do much worse and at least he makes football alittle more fun again in Denver.

and if he sucks, the last glint of hope in Denver dies and the suicide rate skyrockets...

Watch him goose the Dolphins. I hear Tony Sparano gets to keep his job if he can engineer that #1 draft pick. He's on track so far.

Not sure about suicide, but drinking and drug abuse go way up. They don't call it Mile High for nothing.

Game will turn into a Tebow lovefest. There will be more of his college fans there than Dolphin fans.

The 'Phins had already scheduled to honor the Gators National Championship team during the pregame show. How many QBs get their butts kissed like that at away games? Maybe Tebow is the second coming, after all.

He gets his butt kissed by Flipper. On national TV. Well, maybe local TV. Well, maybe there's a blackout.

other than opening day it will probably be their only sell out of the season.

I agree. I'm not a big Tebow fan but I couldn't stop watching the game once he started playing...and I even found myself rooting for him which I never did when he was in college.

With the Jimmy Buffett stadium naming thing and all the celebrity owners and stuff, you could make an argument that the whole Dolphins franchise is one big sell-out.

This is a business. Miami should seriously think of trading for Tebow if he puts up some fairly decent numbers for the remainder of the season. Why? Money Honey. Miami needs to sell tickets, if they have the #1 overall pick they should trade it for draft picks and a second string QB instead of Andrew Luck.
Buy putting Tebow on the Miami team fans would be attracted by the name only not caring about the quality of the player, just as they flock to Walmarts to fill their shopping carts with junk.

And when Miami gets their only win of the season against the Broncos let's see how many excuses come flying out of Tebow apologists pie-holes.

Who's starting for Miami? Matt Moore? Or is it going to be the Age of Sage?

Oooh, they play the Giants. Can I hope they will both lose? (I just need a couple of games cushion in the AFC East for the Pats, but I hate the Giants and I can't actually root for them.)

Since he was drafted, I was floored that Tampa, Miami and Jacksonville all passed on him. Nevermind that all 3 needed a qb at that point. Worse case scenario, he flops and sells a boat load of tickets for a couple years. So the team either gets a great qb or cashes in. Win/Win. This is why all 3 teams have sucked for so long. No clue.....
