Illinois recruting victories

Recruiting is ongoing, and signing day isn't until February. But when it comes around, there should be some names that wouldn't be there if the Illini hadn't made the biggest turnaround in their history, going from 2-10 to 9-3. Barring any late changes, next year's freshman class will not have attention-grabbing, consensus five-star recruits like receiver Arrelious Benn and linebacker Martez Wilson. But it may have more depth. For the first time in Zook's tenure, the Illini beat out Ohio State on an Ohio player, receiver Cordale Scott.

Cordale Scott has a lot of potential, but he isn't a humungous sign.
OSU hadn't made an offer until about 1 week before he committed to Illinois.
Scout.com had him as an upper 3 star (out of 5) until about a month ago, when he was moved to the lowest 4 star athlete.

Still, he is a great prospect, and Zook deserves many accolades for turning around a program much sooner than expected.

I am an Illini fan and I like what Zook is doing. You have to consider that he inhereted a division 2 football team. Now they are in the Rose Bowl. When it comes to bowl games, I am for all Big Ten teams! Go Illini and Go Buckeyes!!!!!!!!!

If I were a Big 10 coach I'd be quaking in my boots, the Zooker can outrecruit almost any coach.

He can recruit some, yes, but the question is can he outcoach?

Scott is ok, but not really an OSU recruit. He would be somewhere down in the lower levels of an OSU recruit.

Yes illinois is getting better, and yes they beat my Buckeyes, but no, I'm not ready to hand over the league to him.
