08:02 AM ET 10.13 | Controversy has a way of tracking down Donovan McNabb. [McNabb] has had it up to here with questions about his throwing mechanics and whatever it is in them that's led to his horrible completion percentage this season. "This whole mechanics thing is getting our of hand," he told reporters today. "Everybody works on mechanics, no matter what position you play. You watch film and you try to work on your profession. So this whole mechanics thing really isn't something I have changed or anything. When a play has to be made, you have to make it." Coach Leslie Frazier started the ball rolling two weeks ago when he said coaches were studying film of McNabb and had areas to work on to improve his fundamental and mechanics.

Controversy has followed McNabb everywhere and Minnesota QBs for a while now. Combining the two had a multiplying effect.

Something about old dogs and new tricks. Slips my mind at the moment, but I think it would be something the Vikings might consider.

CAPTION- McNabb reacts to hearing how much money the Vikings are overpaying him.

Donny Mac is obviously not familiar with the fact that the Star Tribune has an obligation to taking simple QB issues and getting them to an "out of hand" stage.

Commonly referred as the "Star Diaper" in Minnesota. Because it's full of sh**.

If they lose this weekend, it won't be mechanics, it will be the bench.

I have been a McNabb fan since he was drafted. I have been a staunch supporter so I'm not someone just piling on. That being said, I think it may be time for Donnie to hang them up. He is simply not effective. It's hard to watch and even harder to admit.

Time to walk away dude.

That's been the plan all along. McNabb is just a placeholder until Ponder is ready. The Vikes are actually handling the transition pretty well. They know this is a "rebuilding" year, so it's OK to suck. They are not rushing to start a rookie before he's ready.

And, when Ponder does get the start, he will get a free pass from the media and the fans. If he starts slowly, well, he's just a rookie. And if the team suddenly looks better, the fans will be ecstatic and they'll liine up behind Ziggy asking the legislature to raise their taxes and by them a new stadium.

notice to novice coaches....if an established, respected, long tenured coach releases a player, please do extensive research before signing said player......

Are you talking about Chilly and Randy Moss? Same story.

Bwa-hahahahaha. Sorry, Vikes fans, just had to get that off my chest. Glad you're enjoying the McNabb experience.

It seems as though he is "mechanically" throwing the ball into the ground. That'll never change. He's has some great seasons but these last few are stinking up the joint.

October 13, 2011  08:57 AM ET

I don't see what is so controversial....McNabb sucks now....that's is pretty clear...and has been for at least 2 or 3 seasons...

My 8 yr old calls any pass at a receiver's feet a "McNabb pass" and he's been calling it that for the last 2 seasons.....a SIX year old understood more than so many adult coaches, players, and fans...

Yep. If the NFL allowed bounce passes, McNabb's rating would jump 50 points.

Maybe he's in the wrong sport.

Definitely not a "maybe."

Does "embroiled" mean "toast?"
