08:13 AM ET 10.13 | The Red Sox went from title contender to September swoon to what now seems like chaos in a matter of weeks. Could Big Papi really relocate to the Big Apple? Longtime Boston Red Sox slugger and free-agent-to-be David Ortiz spoke about the possibility of signing with the AL East rival New York Yankees during an interview Wednesday with ESPN. ... "There's too much drama, man," Ortiz told [ESPN] in reference to the Red Sox. "There's too much drama. I have been thinking about a lot of things. I don't know if I want to be part of this drama for next year." But would Ortiz really consider defecting to the other side of baseball's biggest rivalry? "That's something I gotta think about," Ortiz said.

Yeah, the NYY would be calm by comparison.
Come on, Papi! You know better. Sign where you want, but don't make excuses about drama.

Wait, he's just trying to build a market here, forcing the Bosox to worry about him having a good year playing for their #1 rival. I get it now. I still doubt they're going to pursue him strongly.

Boston is going to feel like they have to make a big splash and Prince has said he's willing to DH...wouldn't be shocked if they overlook the weight issue and figure it's worth getting a booming bat for 2-4 years before he eats himself out of baseball, even if they have to pay him for 6-7 years.

"there's too much drama here, so I'm publicly saying that I'm thinking of leaving to go play for the team's biggest rival y'know... because I'd like less drama."

Let him get old and break down on the Yankees dime. I don't think Cashman is that stupid though, they already have a $30M DH for the next few years.

Ortiz is the furtherest thing from their problems.... start with the usual suspects, Lackey, Crawford, etc.

Considering they ranked 1st in runs scored and 22nd in ERA, I hope their new GM, if he is going to make a "big splash," would have the good sense to do it with Sabathia and Wilson.

maybe papi just figures that with Theo gone there wont be anyone in boston to sign more bad contracts so he needs to go elsewhere to get some more big bucks.

If they sign CC and Prince, they're going to need to get extra folding tables for the post-game spread.

Judging by Sabathia, Colon, Garcia and Chamberlain, they do have great buffets.
