Ovechkin irked by Boudreau's criticism

08:25 AM ET 10.13 | Bruce Boudreau said Monday he expects more from Alex Ovechkin and that excuses were unacceptable -- comments that reportedly didn't seem to sit well with their target. On Wednesday, Ovechkin was asked to comment on his coach's evaluation of his play and was terse with his responses. "I think everybody can be better," Ovechkin said after practice, where he was matched with center Nicklas Backstrom and new right wing Troy Brouwer. "I think that has to be between me and him and I don't want to comment on it." Asked if he agrees with Boudreau's assessment, Ovechkin replied, "I just said I don't want to comment on it."

Weird, player wants to keep things in house and the coach is putting it on to the press. Isn't it supposed to be the other way around?

It sounds more like Ovie is irked by the reporter not really by the coaches comments...but BB should watch his critiques to the media with #8 or he will be looking for a new job.

Nice description Spiny! Unconventional........I like it. Much more polite than saying "huh"? I also think Ovie handled the "question" well. I agree, and who doesn't, that "everybody can be better". And, what doesn't the "reporter" understand about "I don't want to comment on it" ? Much ado about less than nothing.

I was thinking the same dam thing. Ovie said the right things here. Does it mean he's 'irked'?? I don't think so. He's just keeping it in the locker room. Poor job by BB doing the same.
I think BB is gone by December if the Caps are sitting 4th overall or worse.
