08:02 AM ET 10.14 | Mike Martz is a reasonable man. [Martz] said he will comply with Jay Cutler's request for more pass plays that allow him to beat the almost immediate pressure he faced against the Lions on Monday night. But he added the best solution is to stabilize the offensive line. "We're working on it. He's absolutely right," Martz said. "We've talked about it as a staff and we've addressed this issue. The same thing happened to us last year if you remember ... So we've got to make sure we're giving him a chance with some of those quicker throws. There's no question about that." Martz said the adjustments could be implemented in time for Sunday night's game against the Minnesota Vikings, who are tied for second in the NFL in sacks (16).

It's a sad day when the QB requests to be protected. Martz is an idiot. Jared Allen comes to town this week. Good luck.

Martz' bending isn't the only type of bending going on there. The O-line has been bending over all season.

That O line is going to get Cutler killed and he knows it. Pretty sad when the QB has to point it out to the coach

so do most QBs that hold onto the ball too long...Cutler got sacked a lot in Denver too....if the same QB gets sacked a lot no matter what team he is playing for, it's the QB, not the team or the system...

In more than a few instances, he's barely had time to drop back before he's been swarmed. In the New Orleans game alone, he was sacked on three consecutive plays in the same series; within two seconds of the ball being snapped, and that is not an exaggeration. The so-called "O-line" was more like a turnstile. Chicago's O-line is piss-poor again this year, and Cutler will be lucky if he doesn't get concussed again or worse. The OC and O-line coach should recognize where their deficiencies are, and scheme around them instead of in spite of them. They were able to do it last year with some degree of success...

actually, they showed that series on sportcenter along with a stopwatch....the shortest time he had was 3.48 seconds...that is plenty of time to dump the ball off to the sidelines or hand it off or maybe even complete a pass to the guy that IS open...Cutler has a knack of not seeing the guy that's open, holding on to the ball too long, and then eating the turf....he's a real life version of how I tend to QB at Madden....it's like he has it set in his mind who he wants to get the ball to and fails to see all of the other options...he picks a receiver and if the guy is open, great, if not, he's chewing grass...
