08:08 AM ET 10.14 | Reading between the lines of what he said leaves some wondering if David Stern isn't, rather than Billy Hunter believes, actually desperate to make a deal. That is my take on [Stern's] comments Thursday insisting an NBA labor deal needs to get done next Tuesday, when owners and players meet with a federal mediator. The money quote from Stern, in my mind, was this: "We're ready to sit down and make a deal. I don't believe that the union is. Hopefully by Tuesday, aided by the mediator, they'll be ready to make a deal. Certainly, I'll bring my owners ready to make a deal." Stern also said his "gut" tells him there won't be any games on Christmas if a deal is not cut next Tuesday, the day before two days of owners meetings.

Desperate But Not Serious, Bro?

Stern is not desperate but the players will be when their checks stop coming in November.

Note to self... don't bother to read sheridanhoops.com if I'm looking for accurate or even even sort of possible stories.

umm, dont think Stern is desperate to get it done. It's not in his hands anyways. He is just there for the ride.

QUOTE(#7):

It's the hatered Stern has for Kobe Bryant. He knows if there's no season, Kobe can't pass MJ and become the GOAT! .I think MJ is in his pocket!

I like the plan myself!

college hoops is way better than the nba anyway; and its over when basketball should be over just in time for baseball to start...

Why would he be desperate? The owners and Stern will still be getting a paycheck come November and the players will be cutting into savings (if they have any). I think he is saying that stuff to appeal to the fans and media. It's all PR...they look like the good guys and the players look greedy when Stern says those things. Sheridanhoops.com is full of ****.

Here we go. Just like the money grubbing butt heads in the NFL. Stern, just cancel the season. No one cares now. The gang bangers (players) will be the only ones to suffer because they won't have anything to occupy their time. Which means they'll get into trouble and blame it on everyone else. The NBA sucks, just like the NFL

The season should be shortened anyway! 82 games is too much!
