Nets gamble on D-Will could pay off

08:10 AM ET 10.14 | Among the key stumbling blocks at this late lockout hour reportedly remains the lengths of contracts. Clearly, the goal is to make it as desirable as possible for stars to re-sign with their teams: so kudos to Billy King for making the gamble of acquiring a player like Deron Williams when he had an opportunity. Under the proposed guidelines, Williams could re-sign with the Nets for five years or become a free agent and sign with another team for three. He can't demand a trade if there's a Melo Rule. A star -- and this includes Dwight Howard -- would have to really want to leave his team to become a free agent.

Sounds nice. Clause or no clause I think D-Will will stay with the Nets.

LOL D-WILL is leaving the first chance he gets, what a pitiful franchise...but heres a question...they say players can't demand a trade if this rule goes through right? but theres nothing stopping them from just flat out refusing to re-sign and leaving in free agency correct? at the end of the day these guys are gonna leave if they want to either way, forcing them to stay is a bad idea, a lot of these players are just gonna lay down and not play hard until they get their way and get out of their current situation...that's not good for basketball either...if you cant keep your stars happy that's your problem...seriously
