08:21 AM ET 10.14 | Both Jay Beagle, who had to be helped from the ice, and Arron Asham, whose post-fight gesture he later called classless, would like to have the unfortunate encounter back. "My gestures after it was done, I was into the game, it was uncalled for. Classless on my part," Asham, an experienced NHL fighter, told reporters after the game. "You know, I think those guys over there know that I'm not the kind of guy to be going off. It was a big game, I wanted to get my bench going -- classless move on my part." After the game, Beagle's teammates spoke out against Asham's actions. "It's a fight. It's hockey game, but again it was pretty tough but Beagle, like, he's just first-year NHL," said Alex Ovechkin.

Admitting It Is Half The Battle, Bro.

Always liked Asham. Good to see him admit that.

If Ash knew how bad he hurt the kid, i don't think he would have done that. I don't see a problem with it though, personally. It was a fight. Folks get fired up. If you knock someone the eff out, you earn the right to play to the crowd. That's what Ash was doing, playing to the crowd. I was watching the game and dude, he busted that kid's grape. Glad he isn't hurt, but that's bragging rights.

Why did we trade Ash and keep Shelley again? Can someone remind me please?

Hey cromster how's Talbot working out for you guys? I would take Asham over him any day of the week, and we're getting him for a 1/4 the price.

Glad Asham owned up to his actions, not a classy move.

I'm still wondering why the Isles let him go too. Always loved the way he played. He'd could rifle a shot in the upper corner or beat up some goon chasing your star player. Pens are lucky to have him.

Asham said everything that needed to be said.

With all the "classless" finger pointing that players do it's nice to see him admit that.
BTW, that incident was totally the refs fault, they let Beagle get away with punching Letang's helmet off. As he returned to the bench, Asham stood up for his teammate.

Unlike the Averhole, at least he recognizes what he is.

Asham is the ultimate nemisis of the Rangers. Not that he's really a thorn in their side, but that he's played for the Isles, Devils, Flyers and Pens.

Matt Cooke has been a bad influence on him :)))

Definitely a stupid move on Asham's part. Glad he owned up to it I suppose. It's just hard for me to overlook an attack on a beagle since I own one.

Nope. Can't have him back.

(Paying attention Phantom?).

I HOPE Beagle isn't hurt, and I am not a huge fan of the post-fight celebrating. However, Asham stuck up for Tanger. Beagle started something...Asham finished it. That simple really.

Mine's part beagle but I agree, the blashpamy of it all.

If Beagle played in Montreal would the SPCA be involved?

That lofty title of "thorn in the side" of the Rangers once belonged to the almost forgotten (as it should be) Averhole.

Mine's part beagle, part shepard, but looks all beagle. Of course, with the shepard in him, he does fight back when necessary :)
