08:39 AM ET 10.15 | Texas A&M athletic director Bill Byrne said Friday that rival Texas has informed him that the Longhorns don't have room on their nonconference football schedule for A&M at least through 2018. The Aggies, bound for the Southeastern Conference next year, have said from the start of their shift east they would hope to continue playing the Longhorns in a nonconference football game, and preferably on the traditional date of Thanksgiving. UT athletic director DeLoss Dodds replied in a statement Friday night: "In my email to Bill Byrne, I wrote that we were not in a position now to look at future football scheduling. We're scheduled out with nonconference games through 2018, and our Big 12 schedule is not yet settled. "What we have right now is a full schedule, but if any future options are available, the decision will not be made by just one person." Also, Byrne said his coaches in all sports are checking with their counterparts at Texas in terms of nonconference scheduling. So far he's only heard back about men's tennis, and the Longhorns have declined the offer, Byrne said.

Ags are in the SEC now. If Bill Byrne wants to schedule a late season OOC he should pick up the phone and call Troy or The Citadel. Slive can hook him up.

Greetings from Lost Wages, Nevada. Quick fly by before a hacking round of golf this morning to make sure everyone is behaving. It's 9:45 on the left coast and no LUS so I'm assuming too many captains/cokes last night. He must be preparing for his losses this weekend and another stint in avi hell!

Oh, and last night's score Doc if you didn't see it....Snyder Tigers 28 Brownwood Lions 14!

Later guys...gotta go three putt...or at least I had several of them yesterday. Nice weather though.

Sounds like vendictiveness on the part of Texas comparable to when Penn State broke off their annual game with Pitt for similar reasons but continued to play Coastal Carolina, Eastern Michigan, Temple etc.

So, you are saying Notre Dame, USC, Ole Miss and Maryland are the same as Coastal Carolina, Eastern Michigan and Temple?

I guess that is pretty close.
