Vikings on trading block?

08:20 AM ET 10.16 | One trade possibility for the Vikings would seem to be aging cornerback Antoine Winfield, 34, for a late-round draft pick if not for his injured neck. There's also been chatter that the New England Patriots (4-1), who dumped receiver Randy Moss on the Vikings last year, would be interested in Vikings defensive end Jared Allen, 29, for a first-round draft pick.

Giving Up Already, Bros?

Jared Allen for a first round pick is a heck of a deal for the Vikes. In any event, I think the fire sale begins soon in Minny.

Damn... If Little Bill was able to get Allen for a 1... almost theft!
Winfield... No market for an old has-been.

The Vikings would be crazy to give up Jared Allen for a #1 from New England when they could trade him for a #1 from a team with a poor record.

The Vikings should move to a city that supports them rather than wasting their time in Minnesota fighting for a much needed stadium.

Jared Allen for a first round pick is a good deal for the Pats, too. The Pats always pick low in the first round anyway, they typically trade down or out of the first round entirely, and they don't like to pay high first round salaries.

You are right. Not enough return if all you get is a pick in the late twenties or even lower. With the new CBA and teams having to meet a minimum payroll number it makes no sense for teams to dump their best players.

It does reveal what we already knew. The Pats have done a lousy job with all their draft picks building a defense.

I wouldn't trade Allen but any other trade they make should include MCNabb in the deal

All those picks and little to show for them.

Allen is the proverbial bird in the hand. You would have to be crazy to even consider it. However the Vikes do have a history of blowing big trades. (ie Hershall Walker for half a football team.)

I thought it meant "The Vikings" were on the trading block.LA is offering to trade their smog and an option on an earthquake. Minnesota is seriously considering it.

Throw in a couple of In-N-Out Burgers (and the Lakers) and MAYBE we'll consider it.

Honestly, I wouldn't make either of those trades. All Minnesota really needs is a QB and offensively. Don't get rid of the elite talent.

Is it kosher if I leap onto that bandwagon? Can't stand the Cardinals, and I dislike the Brewers.
