Raiders 'trying hard' to land Palmer

08:03 AM ET 10.17 | With Jason Campbell's season now in jeopardy, the Raiders may have to go shopping. After Sunday's 24-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns, the team is apparently still channeling [Al Davis' aggressive spirit. As the NFL trading deadline looms Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, the Raiders are attempting to fill a black hole at the NFL's most critical position by approaching Cincinnati about quarterback Carson Palmer. According to a source familiar with the team's thinking, the Raiders were "trying hard" to make a deal for Palmer, although the source highly doubted that Cincinnati owner Mike Brown would deal Palmer. Oakland quarterback Jason Campbell left the game with a broken collarbone and could miss the remainder of the season.

Carson who?

If Oakland offers good value and Mike Brown decides to continue to hold Carson hostage, then the commissioner should get involved. He can do what ever he wants to guys who get in trouble with the law, but when his owners act like jerks, he is no where to be found.

Hard to figure, I guess the Bengals are set at every position so no need to try for a trade

When the Ravens drafted Boller he was a downgrade from Trent Dilfer. The dude has to put Stick-um on his clipboard to keep from fumbling it.

If the Raiders offered up a #1 (and don't think they won't), Mike Brown would be a fool not to take it.
The Bengals are building a good young team - they need more pieces and don't need Palmer hanging over their heads.

We could use him in Washington.
We need a QB.

The Skin's have had a Black Hole at QB ever since the great leg snap incident of 85, but the real problem in Washington is your dip**** owner hired a washed up has been to coach. The worst part is Dan Snyder is a young man and you're going to have to put up with him for decades to come. With the Crypt Keeper proven mortal after all, it shows there is a light at the end of the tunnel for some.

Palmer made his choice, I think Brown is doing the right thing. If he gives in it will set a nasty precedent.

Getting some kind of return on an asset is a bad precedent? Sounds more like common sense to me

Don't you think making a move would show the team they really are interested in having the team move forward instead of grabbing onto their past?

There are a lot of stupid people here who would make bad owners and GMs. Trade Palmer. Eli Manning did the exact same thing except when he was drafted, no reason to not get something for him.

I believe you should be able to get at least a 3rd rounder for him. The good news is it adds more draft power for what could be a young up and coming team...the bad news is it sets a precdent that you can speak out and they will ship you out of town. If you want a trade you should seek it on private terms so the team does not look bad. I can't blame Mike Brown for taking a hard stance on Carson Palmer so that it sets another precdent

I'll be glad to be proven wrong, but nobody overpays more than Oakland. If Mike Brown blows this opportunity to unload Palmer at the top of the market, he deserves to lose, forever, or, I should say, an extension of the forever streak he's currently on.
