Fielder turning the page quickly

08:13 AM ET 10.17 | As the Brewers lingered in the clubhouse Sunday, talk turned to just how long Prince Fielder would linger as part of the team. [Fielder] made his way across the hallway at Miller Park to meet with the media for what was probably the last time as a member of the Brewers. The free-agent-to-be talked about Game 6, the season, and, of course his future. ... Q: How long will you look back on this season, and when do you start looking forward to the off-season? A: Well, probably tomorrow. That's when the off-season starts for us, at least. Like I said, we gave it all we've got. And that's all you can do. After that, like I say, as long as I play as hard as I can, I'm able to sleep at night. Time to go play with the kids.

Thanks for being the best Brewer you could be...you'll be missed.

That's not saying much. Additionally, Fielder has demonstrated time and again its all about HIM. He is going to the highest bidder where he will underperform and wash out.
He is done...this story is done

Which player isn't thinking about himself from time to time as you put it?

I am not talking about other players, I am talking specifically about the 400 lb Silver Spoon featured in this article. I am not buying his facade of having fun and enjoying the game.

I see that your not a Brewers fan at all and don't follow them at all. You may have just watched the post season and that's it of the Brewer games. I can't stand people that say negitive things and don't have a foot to stand on.

I am not for or against the Brewers. In fact I have seen quite a few of their games over the past few seasons and think they have some terrific players, Braun, Weeks, Hart for examples.
I am however not a fan of Fielder, or his approach to the game. I predict his next contract will be a mistake due to his lack of production, injury, and attitude.

I'm going to be honest - as a Cards fan, I certainly expected to see more out of Prince in the NLCS than we saw. Why didn't we?

My problem is I'm just a simple fan with an opinion of him that is different then yours.

That's apparently one of multiple problems you have. An additional one is trying to engage me in an argument you simply cannot ever win

Since you posted this twice, I will respond twice.
You accused me of knowing little about the Brewers and never stopped to consider that I am fully aware of their team, players, and recent success. Your comment was rather foolish considering you did the very thing you criticized me of.

Yapp, he has been a great Brewer and he's been that guy that hustles and does his best.
As for free agency, I believe he's doing what almost everybody would do in his position. He wants to see what his value is. I'm sure that if the Brewers turn out to be the top bidder then he would be thrilled to stay there.

I believe Fielder will be fine as long as he goes to another small market team. If he ends up playing in a large market and doesn't get off to a solid start I could see his career going the way of Andruw Jones.
I think the problem people have with Fielder is his surliness. His demeanor shouldn't matter, especially if it doesn't negatively impact his play on the field--but it does.

Before he decides that he's moving on, he'd best check the teams willing and able to pay the money he's asking for. Probably shouldn't count the Yankees or Red Sox in this group. They both have 1st basemen and DH's.
Who else is there that's willing and able to put up over 20 million a year for over 5 years, for a player with serious weight control issues?
