Cut in ice time bothers Hartnell

08:26 AM ET 10.18 | Over the span of 386 games in Philly, Scott Hartnell rarely played less than 12 minutes in a game. Through the first four games of this young season, Hartnell has not played more than 11:37 in any single game, cutting his ice time down almost 5 minutes below his 10-year career average, which also includes an entire 82-game rookie season in which he averaged 10:54 with Nashville. "It bothers me that I'm not getting the minutes that I used to have," Hartnell said. "It's frustrating. But I'm still having fun. We're winning, we're all playing well and everyone is contributing." ... [Part] of that is by design, from Peter Laviolette, because Hartnell struggled in training camp. "There's only so many spots," Laviolette said.

OUCH!

Too early to moan about ice time. Wait until some sort of routine becomes apparent. Once it becomes apparent which guys are on the ice when good things are happening your time will increase..........or decrease. Nothing surprising about that.

Well, Scotty, maybe if your play justified more ice time. Get it? Good play results in more ice time. Very simple formula.

I'm seeing a roster spot opening up for Schenn.

I think his contract has a clause stating that any scoring will be done when the game is already decided and it won't affect the outcome.

You aren't that good, so you get to hang on the bench more. Be grateful you got that ridiculous contract and enjoy the free gatorade.

The toughest part of his game seems to be staying upright.

The coach is just warming him up slowly. Very slowly.

Lot's of them in the stands. Some hotter than others.

Maybe they could try and stay out of the penalty box. Or learn to kill penalties, and your ice time will increase.

Divorced, right?

True. Not many in the stands would be hotter than his ex though.
