08:22 AM ET 10.20 | The Rangers' Josh Hamilton is misfiring at the wrong time of year. [Hamilton's] 2011 postseason homerless stretch lengthened to 45 at-bats in Game 1 of the World Series, and the St. Louis Cardinals' approach toward him in their 3-2 victory over the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night indicated that he'll be challenged to end this skid. Hamilton batted a creditable .293 (12-for-41) in the previous two postseason rounds. But like most of his Rangers teammates, he was silenced by St. Louis starter Chris Carpenter, who held him hitless in three at-bats. After grounding out in the first inning and taking a called third strike in the fourth, Hamilton flied out to medium-deep center field in the sixth inning.

He's hitting .293. The sky is not falling.

Give the pitchers he's faced some credit too.

Yea, but if has a groin pull, that's trouble. No shot gonna help with that.

I thought it was a good comment. Recovering addicts have to be very careful when taking painkillers. Im not saying he cant take anything, but i am not sure its a simple matter if taking a cortisone shot for Hamilton

sorry ... it came across like he was mixing milk with cleaning solutions ...

Any reason why the Rangers wouldn't move Hamilton down the lineup to 6 or 7 and put a hot batter like Cruz or Napoli in the 3-spot? If Hamilton isn't 100% then maybe these other guys should bat higher in the lineup.

October 20, 2011  09:43 AM ET

I would still be careful pitching to him. He's good.

Good game last night. Close.

We are fine.

8th inning when Hamilton flied out to center .. it was over.

BTW .. if hamilton wants his mega payday ... he better be the MVP in this series. CJ wilson has played himself onto the NYY roster with that pathetic outing last night. No way does Nolan Ryan give that dude 80+ million to pitch next year.

Napoli is awesome.

Yeah, and NYY are due for another disappointing contract to a starting pitcher.

October 20, 2011  11:18 AM ET

He is a .260 hitter this year vs left handers. 14 homeruns at home, 11 on the road. A little early to think anything about him, most hitters drop in the post season.

Napoli is awesome.

So is Cruz and most of that lineup. This wont be an easy series for St Louis although I am rooting for them.
