Rodgers better than Favre at his best

08:00 AM ET 10.21 | Considering the contrasts of the Packers and Vikings at this point in the season, a comparison of Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers seemed appropriate in advance of the franchise rivals this week -- and, for some, one thing is clear. Rodgers is better than Favre. Not just better than the guy who hangs around high school and college football teams in Mississippi, sometimes even embarrassing himself by taking shots at Rodgers in passive-aggressive radio interviews. Rodgers is better than Favre was at his best. And Favre was one of the best who ever played. If Favre was a Ferrari, Rodgers is a Ferrari that gets 40 miles per gallon while emitting the scent of lilacs instead of exhaust. Rodgers mimics all of Favre's best attributes and none of his faults.

Favre fell into a good situation in Minnesota... Before that one good season, everyone took him for exactly what he was.
Over-Rated.

This is true...
Favre couldn't hold Aaron Rodgers' jock strap.

I don't think Rodgers would let him hold his cellphone either.

Rodgers can make every throw Favre could, and Rodgers tends to make those throws to his own guys. Of course he's better.

The best thing about Rodgers is.....he does it on the field with his mouth shut. Lets not use the F word for the rest of the season.

That's a good point, but in Rodgers' case I don't see it as that big an asterisk. He's a well-rounded, mobile QB that executes the offense the right way and goes about his business the right way. He's a classy guy who'd be welcome on any roster in any era.

Right now, yeah. Rodgers has had the advantage of playing his entire career for a championship-calibre team. Let's look at this again in 15 years, shall we?

Nah. If we must talk about ol' #4 we should at least compare him unfavorably to someone.

OK.
Brett's chest with a #4 on it is not as appealing as Deanna's chest with nothing on it.

You have a point. What would people be saying about Tom Brady if his career only included the last 5 years? There would be a lot of 'he can't win the big one' and 'he has to step it up in the playoffs' talk.
