08:28 AM ET 10.22 | Missouri officials said Friday that they would pursue a football game in Kansas City against a traditional rival if they were to leave the Big 12 Conference. MU athletic director Mike Alden said the Tigers would like that team to be Kansas. Later Friday, Kansas athletic director Sheahon Zenger responded by indicating that the Border War rivalry likely would not continue if Missouri left the Big 12. "KU-Missouri is a great rivalry," Zenger said in a statement. "The University of Kansas is a great Midwestern school, loyal to our Midwestern conference and to our Midwestern roots. The KU-Missouri rivalry belongs in the Big 12 Conference. Should Missouri decide to leave the Big 12, we would wish them well."

We joke about it being Texas' fault. It probably is but not in the way most think. Texas (and a few others but Texas is the $$$ leader) is "the Jones'" and it all started from "keeping up with the Jones'" mentality. What's funny is there have always been disparities in resources and will continue to be. Even if "revenues" are equally shared, the "other" dollars available are drastically disproportionate...and no more so between Texas and Texas Tech then Ohio State and Purdue.

And I never minded the resource disparity. Guess it is because I've never been the Jones'. I love it when David beats Goliath...and as long as they don't use bank balances as the scoring criteria, then the TCU's of the world have a chance against the Texas's of the world.
Lee Trevino said not to be tricked by the shabby equipment some guy comes to the first tee with. If the guy has a dark tan, squinty eyes and a one-iron in his bag, look out. He's gonnna take you to the cleaners even if all his stuff is held together with duct tape.

The only rivalry in CFB anymore is for where you can get the most bucks. $$$$. You want a rivalry? throw money down at the fifty and watch them all fight each other for it.
