09:44 AM ET 10.22 | The ever-changing world of Rory McIlroy on Friday brought the bombshell announcement that he has parted company with his manager, Chubby Chandler. While Chandler was putting a brave face on matters in a statement to the press, the truth is rather different. In a telephone interview with Sportsmail on Friday night, Chandler, who is on holiday with his two children in Dubai, laid bare the sense of hurt at losing the hottest property in the sport. "I don't know whether it was his girlfriend (world No 1 tennis player Caroline Wozniacki) getting in his ear or someone else but I thought we were doing a pretty good job, to be honest, and I think that's how the outside world saw it," said Chandler. McIlroy made it clear that is not how he saw it in a face-to-face with Chandler six weeks ago. "We sat down and he said he was not happy with his brand, sponsors, website or his public relations image," said Chandler.

Rory baby, don't turn into a dick like Tiger OK? Keep playing well, win a few more Majors and the rest of that crap will take care of itself.

The key part of your comment. Right now, he finds himself on the long list of guys who only won one. He should work his tail off to get off that ever growing list before even thinking of acting like a spoiled brat.

I kind of agree with that. On the other hand, why is this an issue that any sports writer gives a rat's petute about? Are there not bigger things to write about? Let's hear about the long putters. That's an issue that the infant Tim Finchem should delve into. But, of course, he won't. He doesn't have the nerve to make a blanket decree. Though he should. Ban the suckers. Then let Veejay and the rest retire to home environs and sip a cool latte and kick back on the sofa to watch the kids who don't need the easy stick. Throw the long stick out and let's really see what men are made of. Come on Tim, make a decision. We're rooting for you. You worthless piece of administrator.

Worst decision ever, letting golfers use those long sticks. Actually, call it the second-worst ever 'cause not reversing it takes the top spot.
To the USGA and the R&A: C'mon guys. Admit you screwed up, tell the players to get rid of the long sticks and let them play real golf again.

Hmmm, spoking like a person who has never left his neighborhood block!!!!!!....Anyway, Rory has a right to make decision regarding his career...and he can only dream about being compard to TW in anyway...get your own life and stop worrying about someone elses...all I care is that when they tee it up in CY12 that Rory is out there swinging the club at the best of his ability...the same goes for all the tour players...I can care less about their managers!!!!!

Well Deano, I've been to Dubai and Slap's right.
It's like Phoenix with an ocean view. Only Phoenix is nicer.
Dubai is like Disney World with more interesting architecture.
I'm sure Slap's been a few places.

And when I say "Disney World," I mean in an affectation sorta way.
You get my drift.

Thanks Helen. LMAO. I once left my yard and very soon I hope to get off the block. I haven't been to Dubai, but I have been to Phoenix several times. I actually like the Scottsdale area but Sedona is my favorite spot in Arizona. Actually golf is a great way to see a lot of very nice places. I don't travel nearly as much since I stopped playing. My own favorite spot is Maui (Kapalua!). But, not to give the wrong impression, I never did travel much (except to play golf). :-)

The desert Southwest is my retirement destination. Phoenix, Tucson, Laughlin, Vegas... anywhere I don't have shovel snow anymore and keep the clubs in the car 24/7/365 is fine by me. I've played some nice courses in those areas, and the wife and I are in agreement that's where we want to be. Our favorites are Wildhorse GC in Henderson NV and Mojave Resort in Laughlin.
And on topic, why is it a big deal WHO McIlroy wants to represent him? This is less a story than drick's new caddie....

Lost my mom Helen. I went down to play golf (planned it three months ago). And, she got thrown into a hospice in the interim. At least I was with her, even though she didn't recognize me. Her brain atrophied from a fall the week before. Man was she hard-headed. She refused to wear a life line thingy around her neck and the neighbors finally broke into her house after two days.
But, hey. She's in a better place now and out of this festering sump hole on earth. She did play a round of golf with me once about thirty years ago and she wondered why in the hell I took it up in the first place. When I was down if Florida with her my wife put down our dog. 14 and kidney failure. Kind of a tough October. I'm okay but, our three daughters are taking it rough. That's life eh? We soldier on.

I know your comment was meant for Helen but I hope you will accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your mom. My mom just went to the hospital seriously ill and I can understand and sympathize with the loss you and your family have suffered. May she rest in peace.

I'm very sorry to hear that for both your mom and your dog. Of course the loss of a pet doesn't compare to the loss of a parent but it shouldn't be marginalized either. The love for a dog can run very deep. It's my sincerest hope that neither of them suffered for as much as 1 second.
