09:05 AM ET 10.23 | While it remains unclear whether Greg Maddux will re-enlist as a special adviser with the new Cubs' regime, don't be surprised if Team Theo makes a run at hiring the Rangers' Mike Maddux as pitching coach. The Rangers' staff ERA has dropped in each of Maddux's three seasons.

Is Maddux not interested in becoming a pitching coach?

October 23, 2011  11:27 AM ET

not after the job his pitchers are doing in this WS

Would be a lateral move for Mike Maddux. More money and longer contract will do the trick.

"Go ahead and pitch to Pujols."

The Rangers shouldn't give him permission to talk to the Cubbies since the Cubbies are unwilling to provide fair compensation for their personnel raids.

Anyone who has common sense - the guy clearly has adolescent sections of his brain still in command, so I say to Theo - cut your losses, make it clear to his agent that the Cubs no longer need his services, and move on. Epstein's pretty much gotta have to make a clean sweep, anyway ..... best to include the man child in with it as well. It's just a matter of time before he loses it, anyway - why wait around for it? Who needs the grief?

Daddy, if I changed my name to Cubby, would you pay more attention to me? Mommy said she left you because you were pitching to pujols.
