Crosby still skating without heavy contact

11:25 AM ET 10.23 | Penguins center Sidney Crosby still considers himself close to returning after his long comeback from a concussion, but that does not mean he will play in the next game or two. "Nothing's really changed," Crosby said Saturday after participating in the team's morning skate at Consol Energy Center. When the Penguins played New Jersey, he missed his 51st game in a row, not counting the Penguins loss in seven games to Tampa Bay in the first round of the 2011 playoffs. One thing that has to change is the amount of contact he is getting in practice. He got cleared for full contact 10 days ago, but the team's hectic schedule has not allowed for much heavy hitting.

Sidney Crosshairs

October 23, 2011  12:23 PM ET

Saw a clip of a scrimmage and Sid was screening Fluery. Fluery kept coming out of the net and slapping Sid on the back of his helmet with his glove. It would be easier with Sid but they are getting it done without him.

I think I'm going to take back some of the bad things I said about Staal. Also nice to see Neal scoring.

If your best player has what could be a career ending injury and it is possible to rehab him, then you do it slowly.

Guess they wanted Gogo.

That is a bit of a head scratcher. Gogo is good, and he shows a lot of potential, but he just doesn't seem to be getting there. Not really doing to spectacular with the Stars right now either.

That's funny because I saw Carey Price doing almost the exact same thing to Kadri last night only he was using his stick...

Yet he is a minus 2 for some reason?

I'm starting to wonder if we're seeing a replay of the Pat Lafontaine situation from 15 years ago. This concussion issue has been lingering for nearly 9 months now and neither of the hits he took last January appeared to be devastating in the Savard (retired) or even Horton (playing) mode. I only mention those two because as a Bruins fan I saw them many times. I'm sure there are others that were knockout hits that are back playing already.

I agree but then again maybe that was the straw that broke the camels back

I tend to ignore plus/minus when I want to. :)

You think you have problems? Imagine having the leagues best goaltender on permanent IR.

Sidney's subdural hematoma will end his career near term.

Yes, Stall is very good, as her always has been....just buried behind Malkin, Crosby etc....

I love that Neal is really showing off the skill that got him the burgh in the 1st place!!
