08:17 AM ET 10.24 | Another shootout, another single point for the Blackhawks. After coming up empty in the shootout against Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov, the Hawks are 0-for-6 this season in the post-overtime scoring attempts, leading to two defeats. In both shootouts this season Hawks goaltender Corey Crawford yielded one score in each but was saddled with both losses. "It's frustrating (because) Crawford gives us a chance," Quenneville said. "I don't like our approach. We have to do something different." Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews are each 0-for-2 this season, while Patrick Sharp and Viktor Stalberg have been stopped in their only attempts. "I have to be better at that," said Kane, who was 3-for-10 last season.

Another case of trying too hard. They should just remember the backyard rink days when they let instinct take over. They probably didn't have problems scoring goals one-on-one then.

Could be. In last weeks shoot out loss to Boston all 3 Hawks shooters elected to just shoot the puck by Tim Thomas without making a move or trying to deke him out of position. That is typically not the recipe for success against Thomas or any other elite goaltender.

Kane's grip has gotten we weak. He needs to get back to his favorite training routine: Choke a couple of Chicago cub drivers to strengthen it.

Even if he was 2-2 Kane would come up "short."

Makes Denny Maruk look like a giant. (How's that for an obscure and pretty meaningless comment)?

Not obscure or meaningless to us old guys.

I think Denny was 5'7" or 5'8". Probably why he scored so many short-handed goals. :-)

Slappy, the only meaningless comments on T&R come from the mods when we get out of line and use such dirty words as "****goblin," or "sh***!"

LOL. I loved Denny when he played for us. Those were in the days when a good shift got a standing ovation! Hard to believe the guy scored 61 goals with us one year. I think that 5'7" height was with skates on!

Don't know whether you saw the game Saturday but I was happier than you about it of course. I thought the Wings outplayed the Caps significantly during the 2nd period and they were unlucky not to have gotten 3 or 4 goals but Vokoun stood on his head. That 4th goal with only a few seconds left in the second was the killer. But, as I said, I'll just enjoy it and you can be sure I'm not bragging. It's one game out of 82.

Tough to forget a guy who scored 50 and 60 in back-to-back seasons...Had 135 plus points as well and still finished up a minus.

You must be clairvoyant. :-)

And from Maple Leaf fans ;)

Want Erik Christensen? He's good at shootouts and nothing else

On the plus side...they're not showing any (good) tendancies opposing goaltenders can pick up on film.

I guess you're not familiar with Isle Man or BGM then...

Perhaps it's time the Hawks considered replacing their coach...just a thought.

I heard an interview with the Mule and his PP goal in the game before Washington. He said that Babs told them that they would have to score on the PP or he would lose his job....so he said we had to do something...

I am seriously hoping the Wilson try emulate Babcock with that stratagy and see what happens.

Well, that worked for two PP goals for Mule in the first period, so I guess one could say that bit of coaching worked.

Hard to miss him, Canuck. The man doesn't post so much as he floods the threads with his comments when he makes an appearance.
