08:15 AM ET 10.25 | Where Shane Battier suits up next season is anybody's guess. Battier has tried to put thoughts of his future on the back burner until it becomes more clear how the new collective bargaining agreement will shape up. "Are there going to be midlevel exceptions?" Battier said. "Are there going to be Bird rights? Is there going to be a soft cap? Is there going to be a hard cap? Will there be amnesty? There are so many issues that will impact my decision-making, it's not even worth trying to worry about or figure out at this point. Once the new deal is signed, I'll be able to sit down with my agent and figure out a good course of action." ... With both sides entrenched in their position, Battier believes it will come down to which side begins missing their paychecks the most.

Shane-o........Maybe guys like you should be heading up the unionCause.....

Currently, Battier is a man without a team.....and thus, he ain't a 'Team Rep'. Kinda hard to 'head up' the union cause when you don't rate a seat at the table.

at the end of the day - he is right - this will come down to which side can take more pain - real question is does the NBA lose the 15-25% of its fan's that are casual fans. In my gut this is starting to feel more like the NHL lost season than anything like what MLB and the NFL went through.

I just don't think the broader public really cares as much

Any player that wants can go and take a seat at the table and act like they know what they're doing. It hasn't stopped Garnett and Kobe and Pierce and the other dozen or so morons that walked in and started acting like they're in charge.

It hasn't stopped Fisher from making a fool out of himself either... and he's the one who's SUPPOSED to be in charge.

I've been an NBA fan for over 50 years. I am NOT a casual fan at all. They lost me a few years back.

At this point I'm rooting for a complete collapse and for some new blood to come ion and start a new league altogether

I got to the same point with MLB after they cancelled the WS. Took me a few years but ultimately i came back. I love the game of baseball - sounds like you love basketball. Just think if you are OUT (at least for a while) what do you think attendence and ratings do in the middle of a recession after a strike? Baseball lost a good 10-15% of its annual revenues before building back up and that was during a good economy.

QUOTE(#12):

At least Battier is educated and can make a living outside of Basketball, using his brain and not having to be a bouncer or a Home Depot associate...However, I don't understand how these guys aren't set for life with what they've already earned. Hell, this past July I took an eight day road trip from L.A. to Chicago, stayed in nice hotels, saw some sites and ate at good restaurants. I started with $2,500 and still have $700 left today...and my kids haven't gone hungry!

So you're entourage worked for free and slept in the rental car?

see Sprewell, Walker, etc, ...

Latrell Sprewell is still #1 in Wisconsin ....

currently the #1 delinquent taxpayer in the State of Wisconsin. ... owes $3,533,426.49 in back income taxes.

QUOTE(#14):

These players aren't Einsteins. When they earn 5 million a year they spend 10 million a year because they spend like they are going to earn 5 million a year forever. Bling, cars, houses far bigger than they should be buying, their posse, agents, women (and kids galore) will take their toll on incomes. Saving isn't a priority. Explains why the vast majority are broke soon after retirement.

your right : Latrell brought a House for his Mother in the Village of River Hills, elite 5++ acres lots ... and HAD a $1+ million Mortgage on it, at the time he playing and making $7 million .. why?

... the Mortgage was later Foreclose On ..

Duke and Stanford are the two top-notch academic universities that are also powerhouses in sports.

you post that as if they are the only ones...

Shane buddy, if you wait for the big dogs to settle this you'll be on the short end. Grab a spot at the table and make your voice heard.
