Markstrom supplanting Theodore in Florida

08:34 AM ET 10.25 | Losing to Florida has to sting a little bit for Jacques Martin. The Panthers don't really care that their old boss is in hot water, nor that the Canadiens are struggling. Florida is now 5-3-0 and has won two straight going into Thursday's game at Ottawa. "Everyone played a very solid game -- starting in net and moving out," coach Kevin Dineen said. "It's nice to know we have such stability in net. What a difference it makes. It really gives you a hitch in your step." [Jacob Markstrom] might have supplanted Jose Theodore as Florida's starter after making 18 saves in relief to beat the Islanders on Saturday. On Monday, Markstrom stood tall against the desperate Canadiens as he rejected one shot after another.

Uncharted waters Danny.

Jose theodore is the illustration of going a long way on not much talent. That he is even still in the NHL is testament to the dearth of quality young goaltending

I'm not so sure I'd agree with that Spiny...I don't think the league has ever had so many young and talented tenders on the way up. In 3 games last night all were played by the backups...that's 6 and they all played pretty solid for the most part.

I wouldn't want to read any of the Montreal news papers or listen to any of the call in radio shows if I'm a Habs player this morning. It must be a meltdown of nuclear proportions in Habs land.

They obviously miss Komistrainrek...I believe they should try to get him back...urgently!
We'd even take Gomez off their hands...then demote him.

let me clarify...that are ready now. Theodore has no business playing in the NHL in 2011
yes, there are good young guys now I should have elaborated a bit.

A popularity vote between Al Quaeda and Jacques Martin would probably be darn close this morning!

I think you should reach a little deeper Slappy. That's a pretty weak anology.

Clearly Jose is not disputing this Spiny...

That it is Baun-ded. Won't make much of a bumper sticker either. By the way, I doubt they'll really have a vote on it.............don't you? :-)

I guess that would be me, huh? I won't pretend to be an expert, but I know Clemmensen's still out for a bit and the story was Theodore had some "core injury" or some clap trap to that effect. But, I can say I'm pleasantly surprised with the work Markstrom has done thus far. The team has a long way to go to earn any respectability after the decade of futility and revolving door of management, coaches, etc -- but right now, I'll take a 5-3 record....heck, it's better than our Octobers have been in a long time. And as for Jacques Strappe Martin...was not sorry to see him go. As a coach he seemed to have an impact when he first arrived...then the Keenan Circus unfolded and Martin became Coach/GM. And then after almost 2 years it was (I think, could be wrong) he finally hired Pete DeBoer....but the damage had been done and DeBoer never really had a NHL caliber team to coach. I hope Tallon's got things moving in the right direction, and I know it definitely won't be an instant turnaround....but for now at least, things are looking positive down here....for a change.

Foil's been pretty scarce of late I was just thinking...

Markstrom is good, and he will be the starter by year end.

Here's hoping the Flyers will extend the misery a little while longer ;)

Theodore is the illustration of perseverance. He's been capable of playing like an elite goalie but hasn't been able to perform at a consistent level. This situation reminds me a lot of when Henrik took over for Weekes in 05-06.
