Penn State QB dodges reporters

Anthony Morelli has dodged a rush of reporters again. The Penn State quarterback did not attend yesterday's Alamo Bowl news conference, leaving the offensive players who showed up with the task of explaining his whereabouts instead of talking about how the Nittany Lions plan to deal with Texas A&M on Saturday. Team spokesman Jeff Nelson said Morelli had told him he planned to attend earlier yesterday, then backed out without reason. Instead, Morelli visited Sea World with other teammates.

Let the kid have fun. He doesn't need to answer the same questions all day and everyday. Let him go play with Shamu and try and win a game this weekend..

He's a college student, i don't think it's necessary for him to sit there and have his heart and skills questioned by a bunch of balding middle-aged poorly-dressed fishwrap hacks.

However, this is a prime example of Morelli's bratty attitude which has translated into zero leadership from a captain, clearly manifested in how the offense simply did not rally around him and had no confidence in him in the 4th quarter of important games.

Here what you would have read if he did show up;

"Anthony, can you explain why you sucked so bad this year?"

"No, I did the best I could. My coach is 1,000 years old and it's hard to understand what plays he's calling.

So he never showed up for the reporters?
Kinda like he never showed up for PSU.....

December 27, 2007  11:20 AM ET

Morelli's struggles at PSU can be traced to that empty oblong shape that rests on top of his neck. Rumor has it that he makes Buckeyes players seem intelligent. No small feat....

December 27, 2007  11:30 AM ET

Morelli just needs to leave PSU on a winning note, and let Daryl Clark become the next Micheal Robinson..

December 27, 2007  11:48 AM ET

let me take that back, he showed up against OSU only to help with the multiple touchdowns he gave them...

It's unfortunate that Morelli chose PS since he has the strong-arm makings (if not quite the field sense) of a good QB. He is a product of bad coaching like so many other QBs at PS have been. Hmm, wonder why? Maybe it's b/c the QB coach is the best one PS could find, with the caveat that his last name be the same as the head coach's.

When imaginative, successful former head-coach, Galen Hall, has to get approval on play selection from former lousy "head of recruiting" but still lousy QB coach JAY-Pa, it's time for PS President Spanier to put JoePa and overt, costly nepotism out to pasture.

Maybe Jay Pa had him practicing some plays at the video arcade.
