08:27 AM ET 10.25 | Zach Parise has no idea how long the experiment will last. The decision to try [Parise] at center took the Devils' center a bit by surprise today. Other than one conversation with Pete DeBoer prior to the start of training camp, Parise had not discussed the possibility of moving to the middle with his head coach. His first inkling that it was going to happen was when he saw in the locker room prior to today's practice at Staples Center that he had the same color practice jersey as Ilya Kovalchuk and Nick Palmieri. "I just kind of assumed when I saw I had the same jerseys as Nick and Kovy, they weren't going to be playing center." ... What does Parise think of the move? "It's fine," he said. "We'll try it out and see what happens."

The correct answer.............."we'll try it out and see what happens."

It's when you have the AHL jersey that you have to worry Zach.

His first reaction when seeing the Jersey...was, what the devil is this?
Deboer is clearly laying a lot of parise on him for his fine play.

Why would the center be surprised to be at center?

Please stop asking sensible questions. It makes things so complicated.

Because he is a LW, and has played center about 5 games in the NHL

I knew he was primarily a winger but I did think he had played at center a lot more than that. Thanks for the clarification.

LOL - Ed Zachary. It's either that or play left-right out.

To quote the late Bill McNeal: "Don't try to confuse me with the facts!"

I'm aware of that, but it's so easy (and fun!) to pick at a writer's confusing rhetoric.

The center was formerly a winger but now that he's a center he's surprised that he's a center. But seriously he's good enough to play center, especially for the Devils

Great!

Centre is a more needed position for the Leafs. Get him use to it for a year, then bring him in to centre Kessel and Lupul next season.

Who am I kidding? Bring him in to centre Kessel and Nash.

Never ask her where she learned it , just enjoy the ride. Easier to coach a vet then a rookie ;-)
