CJ2K threatens to divide Titans

08:04 AM ET 10.26 | In a manner of speaking, Vince Young, at least some themes of his tenure, is back. Six games in, Chris Johnson is becoming Mike Munchak's Vince Young. The whole What's up with CJ? is this season's unfolding mini-drama, so much so that it risks becoming a distraction in the locker room and on the field. ... Things like this can divide a team. It's happened before. At issue is Johnson's stated stance Sunday that he is running the same as ever and is not the reason for the Titans' last-in-league rushing offense. Without putting it in so many words, Johnson left the impression that he believes either Chris Palmer's offensive scheme or the blocking -- or both -- are to blame.

Like I said the other day, CJ is precisely half a Haynesworth: half the money, half the body mass and he puts forth a half-effort where Al doesn't even try.

No pre season+ big contract= no performance

What's so hard to figure out?

Losing by 34 at home when 1st place is on the line will divide a team too. CJ's ineffectiveness is only part of the problem. A secondary and linebackers that can't tackle are an issue also.

This is all the media. I see no quote in this article from CJ.

No need on putting this type of label on him, just yet, because the Titans are on the hook for $30 million guaranteed.

As far as the Haynesworth label, he is coming to practice and isn't taking shots at the team and the coach. Haynesworth is in a class of his own.

Yep, it's always someone elses fault. Way to take the liberial approach.

simply because I don't know the specifics, is there ANY chance what CJ is saying could be true? Are the blockers missing blocks? Is the line collapsing on him? not to say CJ isn't at fault regarding the contract issue and lack of practice, but is he the ONLY one at fault for the on-field performance? I just don't watch Titans games and they don't really make it on Red Zone that often....

He's not the only one at fault, but he isn't breaking any tackles, either.

Just read a detailed article in which the writer studied game tapes from 2009 and has seen a significant decline in Titans run blocking.

The writer didn't let CJ off the hook saying that he looked slow to accelerate this season.

Perhaps if you pay 75% of his salary the Patriots will give you a 4th round pick for him. The Law Firm needs a backup with dreadlocks

Amano (center) and Harris (left guard) have been horrible. Never should have made that change. Jake Scott (right guard) has done next to nothing also. So, some of what he's saying is true.

Like I said, he's putting forth some effort, but he's clearly not the same player he was before he got paid.

NO Titan is breaking any tackles. Hit once and down. Annoying to watch. Kenny Britt was about the only player that has broken a tackle this year.

It's a little bit of everything: CJ not being as explosive, poor play calling, and poor offensive line blocking.

Word, but I'm kinda like Loki on this one. I haven't seen them play since Washington sent VY to the Waaambulance last season.

CJ's just gotten lazy pushing that wheelbarrow full of money around, maybe he needs to step it up a notch and perform at the level he is getting paid for....its easy tho to make excuses and put them blame on someone else.

Nothing worse than blaming your Johnson

I suspect he's still a little bitter about how hard it was to get paid, so he's in no hurry to get back in top shape and perform. Let 'em stew a little first.

It's not like a star athlete who just got paid is going to admit that he wasn't ready to play and isn't making a return on the teams investment. Gotta be someone else's fault...

Hopefully his contract has a lot of incentives, so his poor performance hurts his bank account.

Kind of like the conservative GOP does.
