Bulls interim coach changes lineup

Jim Boylan wasted little time making changes to the Bulls on Thursday. Scott Skiles' former lead assistant -- who, as expected, was named interim coach by general manager John Paxson -- moved guard Ben Gordon to the bench and will start Chris Duhon when the Bulls host the Bucks tonight. Boylan also introduced some new offensive sets at practice, trying to get the team running and moving the ball down the court at a faster pace to spread the floor and have more time on the 24-second clock to implement a play.

duhon is playing great lately, when i thought he was a liability at all points on the floor...

i say lower wallaces minutes and give gray a chance at center...he's getting double digits in points in rebounds (yeah i know his first dbl-dbl was the other day..but look for him to only improve)....

you always hear announcers say that a team is playing small or big...we can play both...if you play hinrich, gordon, wallace, deng and tyrus......its medium but small......now if you got joakim, gray, tyrus, duhon, and thabo maybe...you got a pretty tall lineup....

id say you can mix and match ur players alot more than they have been....its a good chance to make something big out of this...you have the team...just do it..

The Bulls == the all diva team

Wallace was a bad free agent move. I guess it was okay to sign him, but they paid him way too much. His stats were declining before he left detroit and they have gotten worse since he left. I bet they look at the year Tyson Chandler had in New Orleans and are kicking themselves for letting him go and signing Wallace.

December 28, 2007  09:58 AM ET

Yeah you got that right hitman. Good luck Boylan chicago looks pretty sorry this year.

December 28, 2007  10:13 AM ET

Does my heart good, they could have had KG and they didn't do it. Too much good talent and not enough great talent. Suffer away this year Chicago!Suffer and watch the Celtics run away with the East.

December 28, 2007  10:24 AM ET

I actually likie Gordon coming off the bench, along with Noccioni.

December 28, 2007  10:48 AM ET

i think gordon is best off the bench along with nocioni and thomas too, and i agree with meteora 16 gray has shows real skill him and noah should get some playing time together with thomas shuffling in between SF and PF along with nocioniand if possible ship Joe smith and wallace out , lets this new team start over and grow together...imagine what would have happened if the bulls hadn't sent chandler and curry away, they would have had some team rite now...

December 28, 2007  10:52 AM ET

r u kidding me this guy that i don't think anyone has heard of his going to but Ben gordon The bulls best player on the bench well now your going to lose a tong more

December 28, 2007  11:54 AM ET

What is in the water in Chicago? Why do players have to leave the Bulls to realize their potential. Chandler, Brand, Artest.

I'll bet that several of these players would be more productive on different teams. Is it a curse or something because it defies logic.

December 28, 2007  01:04 PM ET

Yeah RVC, this team has a lot of good talent and not much great talent. Tough to build a rotation with a lot of swing-man types - SG/SF and SF/PF - but no real good position players. They really need an active strong low-post scorer/rebounder who'll draw double-teams because they've got guys who can hit the 3. Someone like a Bosh, Anthony, Jamison, or...Michael Beasley?

December 28, 2007  02:16 PM ET

All wrong. What the Bulls had last year and lost this year is heart. Gordon, Deng and Wallace are all playing well below their demonstrated ability this year. For sum reason the Bulls are screwed up. The sum is less than the parts. Getting rid of Skiles is an important first step, but finding a new coach who can get things in order has to come next.

December 28, 2007  03:57 PM ET

I say the bulls should try and hire Larry Brown.

December 28, 2007  05:05 PM ET

As bad as the Bulls situation is now, wait until the off season when Deng and Gordon are restricted free agents and they decide to be cheap and not match what another team offers each player. With those two gone, their hopes are severely dashed.

December 28, 2007  05:36 PM ET

yankees fan, i disagree. ben gordon used to come off the bench for the bulls and was SIXTH MAN OF THE YEAR in 04-05. starting line ups arent always your 5 best players. other wise when u bring in the second unit, and they are your worst, you achieve nothing. nocioni has been playing the best this year and guess what, hes not always a starter. it depends which players are producing together and also who can come off the bench with a spark. just just who can come in and fill spaces while "good" players rest.

December 28, 2007  05:41 PM ET

Best line-up for the bulls for them to look forward to the future is;

Joakim Noah at center
Ben Wallace at Power Forward
Luol Deng at small forward
Thabo Sefalosha at off guard
Kirk Hinrich at Point

This lineup gives them an optimal mix of size, offense, speed and defenisive aggresiveness

By bringing Ben Gordon off the bench you provide instant offense as well as energy and athleticism by Tyrus Thomas and Andres Noicioni..Aaron Gray shows promise but I think he needs a little more time as a back-up before he will supplant Noah..Joe Smith is a decent player but he doesn't bring anything to the tabble right now for the bulls and it might be best to ship him out for another front court scorer..Tim Thomas now that Skiles has been kicked to the curb.

December 28, 2007  05:43 PM ET

I agree with you, Bulls. Sometimes you need a "spark plug" player, and Gordon used to fill that role off the bench. As a starter, he hasn't produced as well as expected and would be better to resume his bench role. Look at Leandro Barbosa in PHX: Stellar talent and excellent scorer off the bench (as a starter too, but better from the pine) and the essential leader of the second unit. Gordon needs to be that player to help the team, and Nocioni can do the same.

December 28, 2007  05:44 PM ET

Go for it, coach. You might as well shake up the roster, because we all know the current one wasn't working. More power to ya.

December 28, 2007  11:41 PM ET

ANd it worked!!! to all thos fans who have said gordon was a good sixth man...you were right , 35 points...hopefully they stick with this...aaron gray had another good game , now they should ease in noah and build noah and gray as the new twin towers of the league
