Papi on Toronto's radar

08:17 AM ET 10.27 | On the face of things, David Ortiz might make for a nice addition north of the border. Coming off an 81-81 season and with money to spend, the Toronto Blue Jays "will not rule out" making a strong push for [Ortiz]. ... Ortiz would be a lefty-hitting, middle-of-the-order complement to fellow slugger Jose Bautista, for whom he has come to have great respect over the past few seasons. He also has familiarity with Blue Jays manager John Farrell, the former Red Sox pitching coach whose input is valued greatly by general manager Alex Anthopoulos. And Ortiz typically has been productive at Rogers Centre, where he has launched 29 career homers, more than any ballpark except Fenway.

Of course he does...he wants the big payday too.

Don't do it, Toronto. He's an over-the-hill has-been. Concentrate on the future.

Argos: Thoughts?

If Papi leave the Red Sox, his career will be down the crapper.

October 27, 2011  09:09 AM ET

Papi, you've had a good run but time to move on for the Sox.

Yeah, a 300 batting average and OBP around 400 is just plain horrible.

I would like the move, Jose isnt young and it would be nice to see what he could do if he had some protection in the lineup. Dont think its gonna happen tho, AA has talked about next year being another rebuilding and evaluating year. He isnt gonna spend money until he's sure the team has a young core ready to compete with the best. looking like it'll be 2 years before we make a splash

Go anywhere but NY. Boston fans are unforgiving.

The Yanks are going to need the DH spot to give Jeter and A Rod 1/2 days off. I don't think they'll get a full time (Over 450 at bats at the position) DH.

Right, because Rays fans have treated Carl Crawford SO well... (rolls eyes)

yuop. Probably pick up some bench players as the season goes on next year. DH is clogged up for years to come.
