08:26 AM ET 10.27 | The otherwise sinking Canadiens did get a bit of good news in addition to a win over Philadelphia Wednesday. [Pierre Gauthier] The GM also said there may be help on the way soon in defenceman Andrei Markov, who has spent the past three weeks in Florida working with a physiotherapy team under the direction of orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews. "The knee is structurally sound," said Gauthier, "and he has had two-day workouts to build up the muscles in the leg. There has been some fluid on the knee, but he worked though it." Markov, who will return to Montreal on Friday, hasn???t been on skates for a month, but Gauthier said he will resume skating next week.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..........

Getting Markov back will help the Canadiens. Keeping Martin behind the bench won't.

Markov still plays hockey? I thought his job was to just take $ from the Habs

October 27, 2011  09:47 AM ET

If it wasn't for bad luck Markov wouldn't have any at all. I hope the guy gets to play injury-free for a long time to come. No doubt he'll be a plus for Montreal if he can get back on the ice and stay healthy.

Regarding the dismissal of Perry Pearn.

I looked up Pierre "Goatier" and this came up.

October 27, 2011  10:08 AM ET

They'll pressure him to return too soon, and he'll reinjure himself right away.

October 27, 2011  10:22 AM ET

Pierre sure said a lot without saying anything. Spew!!!!

October 27, 2011  10:44 AM ET

As soon as Markov gets healthy and playing they should trade him before he injures himself again and try to get something for him.

Sad that the Flyers so obviously miss the Prongerhole

Dude's gonna need a knee replacement by the time he's 35.

October 27, 2011  01:54 PM ET

This guy should probably hang them up...He's made out of glass. Just sit back and relax with all the money the Habs have given you...

That is good news for the Canadiens. Same old story though hopefully he is not rushed back.

Souray was and he is back and playing well. For how long I don't know but the Canadiens could use him right now.

I think the Averhole is the King of that right now. Isn't he getting paid by 2 NHL clubs and playing for neither ?
