08:21 AM ET 10.27 | The Big East appears to be mining in the Front Range. Big East commissioner John Marinatto and senior associate commissioner of football and marketing Nick Carparelli Jr. were in Colorado Springs on Wednesday to meet with Air Force officials and pitch the conference to the academy. Air Force has been considering joining the Big East for football only. Marinatto and Carparelli made a presentation that lasted about two hours. Lt. Gen. Mike Gould, the academy's superintendent, athletic director Hans Mueh and football coach Troy Calhoun were among the Air Force group that attended the meeting. "They came and gave a presentation on why they think the Big East is a good fit for the Air Force Academy," said academy spokesman David Cannon.

Hey, Deep Creek, they may have a great BB team, you know, just flying under the radar.LOL

0-6/VFH (and any other Tenn/Ken folks,) totally off the subject but want to ask you a question about the Tenn/Ken neck of the woods. I'm reading a book about the "Melungeon Shanty Boat" people and they reference them living in Ken/Tenn pre Civil War. I had never heard of such. Are you familiar with the term Melungeon?

QUOTE(#17):

Yes, but they were over in the Cumberland Gap area, I think it started in Virginia, moving over to mainly TN, northeastern part, then into some of KY the southeastern part. I think they were Portuguese in origin, and they are like the gypsies, they are neither white, black, sort of a mixed. Very, and I mean very clannish.

I figured you would know. It seems the experts don't agree on who exactly qualifies as Mulengeon. Google it and read the Wikipedia article.
