Maddon calls a beer ban asinine

08:10 AM ET 10.28 | Joe Maddon even referenced the Volstead Act in his rant. [Joe Torre] had intimated at the World Series that MLB may look into banning beer from clubhouses following the controversy surrounding accusations that Red Sox pitchers drank during games throughout the 2011 season. Torre did go on radio in New York Wednesday to say no change would be made, stating that MLB would allow the clubs to dictate their own policies regarding the matter. Even the thought of the alteration, however, infuriated Maddon. ... "If you want to be proactive about some thoughts, go ahead, be proactive and I'm all for that. But to say a grown-up can't have a beer after a game? Give me a break. That is, I'm going to use the word, 'asinine,' because it is."

He really said "I have a glass of wine" after a game? How sweet is that? White or Red Joe?
If more people in Tampa would drink, maybe they would forget where they are going and end up at a game there? Hmmmm? Maybe that is the answer.

They may want to have that rule in St. Louis so drunk Tony doesn't kill someone on the way home someday.

I think the Rangers pitching staff was 3 sheets to the wind last night

QUOTE(#5):

After a game is one thing. Playing beer pong all game long in the bullpen is another.

How is it that Maddon, and the author, are both ignoring that the root of this was about drinking DURING the game?

I still say let each team decide if they want their players drinking during, or before, a game. Much like driving there should become a point at which drinking means they are ineligible to play that day.

How is it that you are ignoring that while this incident occured during the game, MLB and Torres suggested they would ban it COMPLETELY, not just during games?

If you're a ballplayer and you can't wait until you get
away from the ballpark to have your alcohol you got
a problem.

The message boards are all spam and nothing but spam. It's this way every Friday and all through the weekend. FN would rather have moderators scanning T&R threads for users posting "offensive material" than keeping a section of their site free from illicit touts which expose them to liability. Go to the bottom of the page. Click on contact us. Report a user violation. Complain that FN isn't doing enough to keep the message boards free from spam touting Webcasts. Tell 'em to clean it up.

I cannot stop laughing at this one!!!!!!!!! Whew!!!! Thanks Easy livin, I needed that today! Look beer has been in the clubhouses since baseball moved into stadiums. Players can have a few beers in private with their buddies (teamates) without being harrasssed by fans, media, and hecklers. They often will not get out of the clubhouse until well after midnight. Their is always food and beverage provided for the players. These guys may have abused the priviledge, but when is this country going to stop knee-jerk reacting to everything that happens?!? Still laughing Easy!!!!!!! Thanks again.

This has been going on since the beginning of Basball ,the Babe use to have a bottle of whiskey in the dugout and pull the cork out after each inning.....they didn't have the Monster energy drinks back then

torre voiced out his opinion though he its mean to replace selig in the future, perhaps he mean to say that he will keep an eye on every club just in case the players miss the right tunnel!!
