Yankees preparing Sabathia proposal

08:29 AM ET 10.29 | The Yankees planned to present an initial proposal to CC Sabathia this weekend, but were not overly optimistic they could reach an agreement with their ace before Monday at 11:59 p.m., the deadline for the lefty to void the final four seasons of his contract. Yankees officials met in Tampa earlier this week to finalize a strategy for dealing with Sabathia. An official who has done a lot of business over many years with the Yankees said they generally do not submit an official offer to a player "until they know it is something the other side will accept or is darn near close to that." Thus, the Yankees still could be in a feeling-out period with Sabathia's representatives, Greg Genske and, specifically, Brian Peters before actually making a firm, written proposal.

Why would I need a jacket? Once I clean the truck off I could do the plowing in gyms shorts and a T-shirt. It gets pretty damn hot in the cab of the truck when the defroster is blowing to keep the windshield clean.

The Yankees need CC a lot more than CC needs the Yankees. They better open up the bank. The rotation is quite mediocre with CC; without him, it looks like the Astros' or the Royals'.

I am suppose to be on the road right now - but I-66 was getting worse and worse the closer we got to I-81. Decided to turn around and come home since traffic was only going less than 50 - we wouldnt have made it to the retirement fun anyway. Closer we got to 81 - it was at freezing and the snow was beautiful. Was passed by an idiot weaving in and out of traffic - about 20 minutes later he was on his roof off the road - there were a couple of cars already stopping to assist so we went on. A couple of more were along the side of the road. So home for a short staycation this weekend.....And - GOOOOOOO CARDS!!!!!!!!!!

Enough of the weather, Well Done Cardinals. I'm an AL fan thru and thru, but what a Series, what a comeback.

Is there really another team out there that would up the $23 million a year for the next four years he has coming already?
Two years in a row he has been a mediocrity from September on. Let him test the market. He may be surprised.

Same thing I was thinking. He was worthless from September on. Add to it that's he's in his 30's and very much on the heavy side. The guy is a major back/knee injury waiting to happen. Don't see anybody (even the Yanks) shelling out $20 plus mil a year for this guy. Not bashing him. He can be good. But reality can be a b.itch
